ABC News: Some Say U.S. No Longer Feels Like Home (gag alert)

Posted on 11/11/2004 6:28:46 AM PST by AuburnJenn

Nov. 10, 2004 -- Leora Dowling and her husband thought returning from deep in "red" America to her native New England would make them feel more comfortable, more like the people around them shared their values. Since the election, she's been contemplating another move. To Italy.

"After the election, my husband and I asked ourselves, 'How could our country be heading backward? How could so many people miss or choose to ignore the obvious failures of the Bush administration?'" the former Florida resident said.

Dowling, a college professor who lives with her husband in Vermont, is not alone in feeling that the wounds cannot be healed, or at least that Bush is not the man to do it.

For Dowling, as for others who ABCNews.com spoke with, though the immediate anger may be focused on the president — whether because of the war in Iraq, his stance on same-sex weddings, what they say is his blurring of the line between church and state, or his championing of the Patriot Act — there is a broader concern. They say they feel the United States is changing in ways they do not like, and they feel powerless to stop it.

For Dowling, as for others who ABCNews.com spoke with...

And how many of the 59,000,000+ citizens who voted for President Bush have been interviewed by ABC? Anyone? Bueller?

I have to say that this election, and a vacation to a red section of Florida, made me want to get the heck out of California!
I just think about my 3 year old son and the public school system here. I don't want him indoctrinated. I really think it's time to research and find a new place to live.
I want a place that's not too hot, doesn't have a TON of snow, although a little is OK. Red state preferable. Any suggestions Freepers?

I hope ABC continues to run pieces like this. It will remind American how childish the liberals are, and should guarantee another win for Republicans in '08.

They say they feel the United States is changing in ways they do not like, and they feel powerless to stop it.

But you do have power, LEAVE!!! Liberals seem to think that in our democracy they have the foresight and certitude to know what is right for America. Their arrogance is beyond the pale IMHO. If they do not want to live by the rules of our democracy which overwhelmingly supports our President and conservatism, then move to another country (or better yet, another planet)!

This is BS. The liberals are just mad that, with Dems out of power, their dependence on government largesse is not so assured. Belive me, I know lots of liberals and they LOVE their subsidized, protected jobs which are often largely funded through federal programs and grants. The thought of losing their tax payer funded sinecures and and having to do real work is terrifying to many of them. They hate Bush with a visceral passion.

I'd just suck it up and be an adult and move on with life...

But then you are not a liberal.

1-You are into reality,not FEELINGS....(hurt, that is)

2-You didn't believe that your way was the only way.

3-You didn't think that because you were a professor from Vermont that your superior intellect gave you the right to "Guide" the unwashed, trolley riding, red American masses...

4-These backward morons that just hurt your little ol'feelings so bad by telling you to take your superior ways and SHOVE THEM UP YOUR BLUE ....STATE.

Maybe we should deport the MSM and allow them back when they can report objectively.

The US used to be a "mind your own business" meritocracy. Not now, with all of the PC strictures on discourse and conduct, not to mention the special rights accorded the noisiest special interests.

Thank you. Well said.

Will someone please get the mailing or email address for these socialists? I'd like to start a letter writing campaign to them. Lets see if we can piss them off enough to actually leave!

Of course they would be nice letters, praising Bush, etc. Hopefully that would put them over the edge!

They are free to leave.

Airplanes leave every few minutes at every airport to every country in the world.

They are roads that lead to Canada in the north and Mexico and points in the south.

If those who live in my area need help packing, if they will contact me I will be glad to help them pack.

If they are short on cash, I will be glad to chip in towards a one way no refund tickets.

So their problem is solved.

Let them go to where they are happy.

Wow so many changes since last week.

Actually I have noticed none. Nobody is in office yet and no judges have been placed, no votes have taken place, nothing has changed... except their perception.

Maybe that needed to change anyway.
