I do not know where this rock is, but I am willing to bet more than one FReeper does. It looks like Eastern Texas.
I have more pics of this rock if you would like me to post them.
Note the Flag is a painted part of the rock. A fine piece of Granite.

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.
John F. Kennedy
A friendly reminder that the US Armed Forces is what makes this speech ring so true.

What a beautiful tribute! I join in your prayer and blessing!

With respect to my fellow veterans, especially those in my family:
Dad (deceased WWII pilot, flew The Hump);
Mom (WWII flight nurse);
sister (Army nurse);
uncle (WWII USN service in the Pacific);
cousin (deceased USN aviator);
brothers-in-law (USAF; retired Army Ranger; Army Medical Corps M.D.).
I salute you all, especially my brother Marines in RVN, with whom I am proud to have served. I would do it again in an instant.
Special appreciation to Swift Boat Veterans for Truth who served their country in a way they probably never expected to. I honor them today.

(HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BROTHER MARINES!)
To: Jeff Head
Never in the history of the world has any soldier sacrificed more for the freedom and liberty of total strangers than the American soldier. And, our soldiers don't just give freedom abroad, they preserve it for us here at home.
For it has been said so truthfully that it is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the agitator, who has given us the freedom to protest.
It is the soldier who salutes the flag, serves beneath the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag, who gives that protester the freedom to abuse and burn that flag.
-from Sen. Zell Miller's keynote speech, 2004 Republican National Convention

My dad was also a Hump pilot. He flew C-46s marked with Nationalist Chinese stars on the wings.

ICED EARTH
Valley Forge
Music & Lyrics by Jon Schaffer
Close your eyes and imagine
The soldier at Valley Forge
The suffering that he endured was real
Starvation, total war
Yet in his eyes, the iron will to win
And for the cause he wont relent
Standing barefoot, frozen bloody hands
His musket clutched, an iron grip
For the cause he has but one regret
That hes only got one life to give
Chorus
Would he look upon us now
In anger and disgust?
His providence, our birthright and our creed
Will we let ignorance and laziness
Bring our demise?
Complacency, were blinded by our greed
Its time for us to open up our eyes
And cherish the lives we all can have
And to the ones whove kept our freedom free
Words cant express all that you have done
Chorus
Would he look upon us now
In anger and disgust?
His providence, our birthright and our creed
Will we let ignorance and laziness
Bring our demise?
Complacency, were blinded by our greed

My great great great great great grandfather was at Valley Forge as an aide de camp for George Washington.

VETERANS DAY PRAYER
Father God, We ask You to hold our
troops in Your loving hands.
Fill their lonely hours with blessed assurance
and protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families in this time of selflessness.
Move we pray by Your mighty power in victory
to bring them each one safely home.
Amen
