The Democrat Party has put itself in quite a hole. I don't think they can climb out.

Whatever their views on abortion and abortion rights, the vast majority of Americans view the abortion of a viable fetus/baby (partial-birth abortion) as immoral. The Democratic candidate and his fellow Democrats repeatedly voted against a ban on this practice.
Gov. Napolitano, I hope that this short list answers your question about how it is that your party has gotten tagged as "the party without values." Indeed, the real question, as this observer sees it, is how has this party retained so many people who have traditional American values?
They could if they openly shunned Michael Moore, the Hollywood left, and black race baiters such as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. The question is, would they go to such steps to regain the true democrats.

When my hero, Richard Nixon, did a really stupid thing that would in the end overshadow all the good things he did in his time, the leaders of the GOP took a long walk up to the White House. Shortly after that, the GOP's Nixon did the honorable thing, and stepped down in disgrace. When the Democrats had one of their own on the griddle, they did nothing. Most of their party's congresspeople didn't even go to the Ford building to look at the evidence. And the long-winded furor over his lies distracted from the growing evil of the Islamofacists, while good men died and the Democrats protected one of their own.
Gee, I can't imagine why people would brand them "the No Values Party."
Liberal are for killing the innocent through abortion, but oppose killing the guilty with the death penalty.
Yeah! Come on over to the Republican Party, all you disenfranchised Democrats whose Party has left you scratching your heads in disgust and amazement. There's a big tent, the New Colossus, beckoning to you. Come into the light. Follow Zell: he's leading the way.

Don't forget that Democrats generally support embryonic stem cell research, up to and including the evenutality that embryos would be grown and harvested to provide therapies to people who need them.
So they are, in effect, supporting the harvesting of humans for use in medical treatments.
If that isn't on the same level as Soylent Green, I don't know what is.
