NEAR FALLUJAH, Iraq - More than 4,000 U.S. Marines and Army troops punched their way into northeastern Fallujah on Monday, kicking off a massive assault dubbed Operation Phantom Fury that seeks to put an end to half a year of insurgent control of the Sunni Muslim city.
The prelude to the assault on the Askari neighborhood was a crushing air and artillery bombardment of the city that rose to a crescendo by Monday evening, with U.S. strike jets dropping bombs around the clock and big guns pounding the city every few minutes with high-explosive shells.
Meanwhile, insurgents in Baghdad and nearby Ramadi tried to keep up the pressure on the coalition forces with new attacks, including one on a Catholic church in the capital.
Earlier Monday U.S. troops had fought their way into the city's western outskirts, seizing two bridges over the Euphrates River and helping Iraqi soldiers take the city's main hospital in the first stage of a major assault on the insurgent stronghold.

I love that prayer...thanks for posting it..
yeah, probably right - they probably majored in Marxist Theory in Kindergarten.
There are a lot of myths flying around, and just because we were told not to become involved in the political campaign, these myths have become perpetuated.
Rummy isn't going anywhere. He told Bret Baier in an interview shortly after Operation Iraqi Freedom started that he'll step down if the President says so.
Why do we have pictures of live "insurgents?"
LOL sounds about right.
I surely hope so.. my understanding was it was over last week !!!
lol
Many long hours and long days at several headquarters here in NE Ohio. All worth it. And the freedom to vote & carry on democratic process due to efforts of troops, such as these, over the years.
WTF is the guy on the far right trying to do??? The M.C.HAMMER dance?
Hope that Fallujah brigade could lead to stability, that didn't work out.
I think we need to understand that all cabinet members turn in their resignations after a re-election. It is protocol. President Bush reviews and decides whether to accept them or not.
