Muslim population of the USA?

I was wondering how many muslims live in America and how quickly the population there is growing?

I was recently surprised to read that here in the UK, under two percent of the population is Muslim (I thought it was much higher). France, I understand has about 5% presently (but it is growing quickly)

Also, in the UK, I am starting to notice that Muslims are starting to assimilate into society a bit more (while still maintaining there own customs & traditions). The Jews and the Hindus have done this more successfully and quickly but I have noticed (first hand) that many Moslems are becoming more Anglicised. I wondered if anyone has noticed the same thing in the US?

According to a national poll conducted in 2001, known as the American Religious Identity Survey, approximately 1,104,000 adult Muslims reside in the United States.

National Muslim organizations put the total number of all Muslims in the nation at about seven million, based on a survey that determined that two million Muslims regularly attend weekly Friday prayer services, and stipulated that the majority of Muslims do not attend such services.

The 2000 Britannica Book of the Year estimate for 2000 states the number as 4,132,000. Whatever the exact number, the Muslim population in North America is characterized by its diversity.

Some 80 nations are represented in the mosque communities of the United States, including a variety of traditions, practices, doctrines, and beliefs. Approximately 24 percent of American Muslims are African Americans according to the American Muslim Council’s Zogby poll conducted in 2000.

Same here, which astonished me. Apparantly there are only about 350,000 Jews in the UK.

Huntsville, Texas is where most of the prisons in Texas are located. There are no mosques here but we support Moslems preachers with tax money to corrupt the prisoners.
They go after the ones that are most violent.

What I find concerning is that, if you take the world population of Moslems at about 1 billion (which is probably low). Assume that most of them are peace loving people who just want to get on with their lives but that 1 in 1000 is a fundamentalist nutter, that gives you one million fundamentalist nutters.

Then if you assume that 10% of those nutters have whatever it takes to become terrorists rather than just rabble, they could, at least in theory, raise an army of 100,000 fruit cakes all seeking death in the name of God.

There are over 1,200 Somali's in southern Maine alone. Gov Baldacci and Rep. Tom Allen both Rats, brought them into this state. Most are on welfare.

And thousands are crossing the border every NIGHT and they aren't all Mexican's. The Border Patrol finds the prayers rugs and the book of the Karan a lot, that is dropped in haste to get into the United States.

I saw a documentary on Fox News about this last year. These people HAVE to be going somewhere and what better shelter then a United States based Mosque?
