Although there may be more pressing internal questions, I believe the best best thing President Bush could do in a global perspective is to rid the US of the the UN.
Am I wrong?
You're not wrong, but it ain't gonna happen in the next 4 years, maybe at some point in the next 40!
I agree....the US should get out of the UN.
Then, we should take a large wrecking ball and tear down their HQ.
Four more Scalias. Preferably four more 38-year old Scalias who run marathons and never exceed 100 grams of carbohydrate in a day.
if W does nothing except that, we'll be fine.
If he does everything else and doesn't do that, we're screwed.
A dream that will not reach reality anytime soon...
All in due time.
I disagree. The U.N. is a thorn in our side but we're still the world's only super power.
I think the most important item Bush will address is the appointment of new Supreme Court Justices. The Supreme Court has the longest lasting effect on the nation, the cases they rule on affect all of us and their decisions stand for decades or longer.
Not going to happen.
The single most important issue is judges anyway. No other domestic issue is within an order of magnitude of the importance of ending judicial activism/legislation.
Just in case anyone has a problem with reading comprehension, once again.
Like Sheila Jackson Lee, the corruption of the UN makes a good foil for Bush to play against. Its still useful, in a machiavellian sense.
I'd like to see Bush clean up our voting rolls and procedure before some bright socialist takes advantage of it.
Illegal Immigration and SCOTUS picks.
"Like Sheila Jackson Lee"
I meant Cynthia McKinney. Same diff I guess.
"Karl, here's our first job -- We've got to put an end to FR VANITIES!" |
Secondly, revision of the tax code and social security could possibly defuse the entrenched socialism established by FDR 70 years ago. This is the equivalent of the fall of communism in the Reagan/Bush I years.
Thirdly, the possibility that any sort of democracy can be established in the Muslim world runs contrary to 1000 years of civilization. To do this, in eight years, would have the long-term impact of the atom bomb and our entry into the nuclear age. Unbelievable if it does happen.
If W. can take charge, and get results, in those areas, he will be one of the five greatest Presidents in history.
Forward to 2008, even if he does all this, don't expect gratitude from the American people or election of another Republican to follow. People are notorious for booting out those and their party who have done the most for them (e.g., Churchill after WWII). We will have to stay on guard to protect the Bush legacy and be grateful for anything that does go right, knowing the ethics of the people on the left.
I think we should take first things first. Sovereignty of the US is the number one issue. In January, the FTAA is set to be passed. If this happens, there will be no more borders. We will be considered a free trade zone.
My single big issue would be to get some of these liberal courts under control.
In my humble opinion that is the root cause of many of our problems. Fix that and a lot of other things fall into place.
Whatever we SAY it is. :D
