The following letter appeared in the 11/04 edition of The New York Times:
To the Editor:
I write to say something I feel deeply. I am a woman from Texas and a devout Christian. I am someone who prayed after 9/11 and sent money to help.
I voted for George W. Bush. I will do all in my power to respect the Democratic positions and reach out for unity as a country, as a neighbor. I want the United States to be united! Let's reach out to one another as Americans, regardless of party affiliation.

Please leave the sewer contents over where it belongs.
Awwwww, big hugs and a bar of soap and a good nappy! Then DUbbies can go play.
Okay, I didn't even need to read past the first posting. Those people are nuts.
Not just good advice: something that actually works, too.
The DU dorks are bigots.
Furthermore, I strongly suggest people stop the red dem bashing in this forum. Just because I made a stupid comment out of anger hours and hours ago, du'ers are tearing themselves apart according to arbitrary divisions. every time I see it I feel like crap. Don't blame the red dems, that was my mistake, give them our support,they need us.
WE need THEM................lmao
"You've been quoted" by DU. Congratulations!
They should rename their site Democratic Underbelly, since it appears to be reptiles that inhabit it.
I feel soiled. I went to the link and read a few dozen of the posts. The one who goes through a long litany of "F-words" at her and all that she is, loves, and stands for, makes me want to puke. These "people" are so sick, they're hardly people. I'm GLAD we didn't make the BIG mistake of putting these monsters into power. They would have rejoiced at kill us.
I heard that DU closed down access to their forums (registration) ... and on their home page they say "...until after the election."
It's Saturday, Nov. 6 ....
Aren't they speeecial?
True; if it wasn't, their anger and despair wouldn't be so intense.
they were pretty mild in their response. go look on the gay marriage topic and watch them eviserate each other. i feel as a public service, DU should allow new members. i really want to rub it in.
These rats need a bright light shined upon them. The media should expose what the dem party is really made of.
I should have done what you did - those people are fanatical! I went down about a hundred posts and that was all that I could handle.
"The DU dorks are bigots."
You are charitable. We need to remember at all times, these people are NOT "the loyal oppositon."
They are simply the opposition. They will gladly see more skyscrapers fall if it will embarrass the Bush administration.
The crude enmity toward an innocent person reaching out for reconciliation is transparent here at DU, but it is not different from the treasonous obstructionism of Pelosi, Kennedy, and Co.
We have to constantly stay on our people in Congress and elsewhere, to never forget:
the lies and corruption of the DNC/Kerry campaign;
the violence and the vandalism.
These people are the ones who almost breached security of the Presidential motorcade in Portland two years ago, forcing the Secret Service to the point of drawing their side arms;
These people are not Americans, despite the accident of their birth: they are European socialist sabateurs, and trusting them would be a fatal miscalculation.
Thanks for the refresher on why I am no longer a Democrat, and find it a challenge to respect anyone who is.
Like "F the shingles on your roof"???
If that is the "Party of Tloerance" at work, give me what they refer to as the "Party of Hate" any day. Obviously they have reversed the meanings of words.
