Will there be recounts and/or counting of absentee ballots in PA and WI? (Vanity)
Posted on 11/05/2004 4:48:48 AM PST by carrier-aviator
Not that he needs their EVs to win, but I'd bet that if PA and WI were recounted and if absentee ballots were folded in, Bush could garner their electoral votes. Does anyone know when or how this will happen?
Will allegations of widespread fraud in Philly be examined?

I've been asking this same question on several threads over the past few days. There doesn't seem to be much interest among freepers to push for this. I don't know why. Perhaps the numbers are not as full of potential as you and I seem to think.
If we could pick up PA, it would really reshape the 2006 race.

It won't happen. The President should have run more strongly in the three Upper Midwest states. If he had gotten only 3% more, he would have secured MN, WI and MI. Along with NH. That would have made it next to impossible for the election's outcome to come down to one state.

The PA Debacle. You know what irked me most on election night was how eager and simply the MSM called PA for Kerry when in fact Kerry barely won the state with a margin much less then that of his Ohio Loss and the MSM was so hesitant on Ohio. Blatant bias. I really would like PA absentees counted. I think PA will swing by a slim margin to a Red State.

Of course they'll be counting absentee ballots. The Presidency wasn't the ONLY election on the ballot this year.

In Wisconsin, I believe the losing candidate must formally request a recount. So I don't expect that to happen. I don't know Pennsylvania's law, but again, I highly doubt a recount will be conducted because it has no bearing on the election outcome.
All votes cast will be counted, however (absentee & provisional). A final, accurate count must be submitted to the secretaries of state for certification. And besides, those ballots also contain votes for local elections, referendums, etc. So all the votes will be counted. Just don't expect any recounts.

If it was 1% or less, yes there would be a lot of recounts. The fact the election wasn't as close as 2000 kept the brigades of lawyers at home. And I don't think we want to open a door that ought to stay slammed shut, for the good of the country.

In wisconsin using a figure of 100,000 provisional and absentee ballots and assuming a 60 -40 split to the republican canidate it would not be hard to overcome the 11,000 vote difference

I DO want to see this happen and clear out the fraud.

I think people here and elsewhere are gearing up for the Hillary Clinton race....stopping her, that is..... Best two ways to stop Hillary:
1) Expose massive voter fraud in Philadelphia
2) Make PA a red state, and force the Dems to spend even more money there in 2008.

Not only do I want the finally tally of the votes, I also want the people who engaged in voter fraud to be prosecuted and have their voting rights revoked. It is critical to me that the rampant voting fraud be stopped for good. The only way I can see that happening is to set a few thousand examples of people having their voting rights taken away. That would go a long way to stopping this. I truly believe that if the voting fraud was stopped, Liberals would never win another national election. But I fear that this will never happen, especially in minority districts. The howl from the left of "disenfranchisement" of minority votes would be deafening.

The early returns from PA were apparently from urban areas and were predictably strongly for Kerry. That gave the MSM the cover they needed to call the state immediately. What's more, PA was very slow to report
any returns.
If I recall correctly, this was the opposite of 2000. Bush was ahead early, and the Philly votes drifted in later and overcame the early Bush lead.
I smell a Rat here.

The margin wasn't small enough to trigger anything like what happened in Florida.

I don't think it's a good idea. It will be like opening the Pandora Box. The Dems will also file lawsuits for OH, and FL, where even now the DUs have cried foul. Bush has won. Let us leave it that way.

I agree on 14. It is vital to get this fraud out.
Note that touch screen voting helped kill the fraud in miami dade. Much lower totals (no fraud) even with all the supposed turnout.
I heard that bloomberg wants the new machines in NYC for the election in '05.
that will cost the dems 50k to 75K votes in the city alone....
