The rage and frustration of another Bush victory was more than many San Franciscans could take. As soon as Bush's re-election was confirmed in the middle of Wednesday, November 3, people started gathering at Powell and Market streets. By 5pm the crowd had swelled to several thousand.

Good post. I also am a staunch defender of the first amendment; however, I wonder if this behavior would have been tolerated during WWII?
Creepy feeling of a terrorist riot, like the ones displayed in say, Palestine..burning the flag and a Bush figure? This is outrageous (or at least I thought) for your regular democrat. Kind of makes you wonder who's behind this.
