If this is true then the Dems may have decided that "Job One" is to prevent Dean from running again.

Good point!

Won't the next chairman be elected at the next DemocRAT convention (in Jan., I think)? I think when the party doesn't have a president in the WH, it's up to the national committeemen and -women to elect the chairman.

If so, I can't imagine McAuliffe survives. But man, if they elect Dean, they are dumber than I thought.

Terry McAuliffe is due to step down anyway, I don't know why "rumors" would surface that he's been asked to step aside. I'm remembering back in 2001 when he was chosen for the position, over the black Atlanta politician, Maynard Jackson. (Foolish Maynard, dead now, really thought he had a shot at it.)

To heal the party, the DNC might be forced to go with a Vernon Jordan or other black "celebrity" democrat. Whoever, watch to see if it's a Clintonista. But does it really matter now that the goofed up McCain-Feingold has made the DNC obsolete? McAuliffe's DNC has been replaced by 527s, and the likes of George Soros, and really, didn't you get the feeling McAulliffe had become the invisible man? The DNC couldn't even save Tom Daschle.

Don't forget the Master (Clinton) Plan: The further the DNC runs itself ashore like a beached whale, the more grand the Hillary entrance, riding a white horse in 2008.

Oh yeah.. like THAT will get disaffected Zell Miller democrats who moved to Bush and the Republicans this year to return to the fold.

I am one of those former-Democrats that the Dim party is basically telling to "sod off" forever. These people are so driven by anti-American animus and hatred of traditional America that they dont care how many of their former compatriots they drive away as long as they can give support to their far-left comrades.

I actually have more respect for Dean than Kerry. I don't agree with him, but he is steadfast in his beliefs. Kerry I don't know what he believes.

Pat Caddell on Linda Vester's show a few minutes ago was also saying Dean could be it.

He wasn't laughing when he said it either, but he doesn't seem to laugh very much.

No! This can't be true!

Terry was brilliantly executing his rope-a-dope strategy of continually losing election after election...knowing that Republican's can't handle success!

Eventually the Republican's would have gotten tired of winning...and just handed everything over to the Democrats.

He must be allowed to continue as head of the DNC!!! He is sooo close to completing his job. In a few more elections Republicans could have 60 in the Senate...and another census/redistricting to lock in majorities in the House. Terry's grand plan is not complete!

McAuliffe does not stand for anything, and he's a leech and snake I'm glad to read that McAuliffe is out.

As an American first, I want a healthy two-party system. So I hope Democrats will choose a competent leader who will move the Democratic Party back to the center, allowing conservative Democrats to have a home.

I don't like to the Republican Party to take us conservatives for granted. I would like to have a choice in my statewide and local elections, where I can choose the most conservative candidate, regarless which party label he wears.

It might be media hype or a trial balloon...but this is the current story being talked about by Dem party members in Florida, fundraisers, and personell.

First I heard about it was late last night then this morning it was made clear they have had enough of Terry...don't want him back..and that Dean is being sought because they believe the message was clear...50+ million hate Bush and they could do better with the right plan to do something with that number.

He considers himself a REAL democrat - he said it last night. He said the party is quite different than it used to be... I imagine Dean as DNC chair would make him quite somber :)
