Did FNC pass CBS ratings? Is this the first time a cable channel has passed a broadcast channel for an election?
How do you translate CBS' rating/share into millions of viewers
I firmly believe that last night was the end of an era. By 2008 the MSM will have completely new players and a different approach to election night coverage.
The MSMs need to take a hard look at the numbers from FOX. At the end of the day it is all about ratings and revenue. This is one area we all need to work on.
I have yet to read where they breakdown the fact that FoxNews appeared on BOTH the network FOX and FOXNEWSCHANNEL on election night...and the debates...but the odd thing is they had a DUAL FNC with SHep Smith, Lowery, CiCi and Pinkerton on FOX network and Brit and the guys on FNC....so how is that computed?
I never saw whether they added them for the same coverage on debates.
cnn: OWN3D!
msnbc: PWN3D!
You mean dozens of viewers?
Fox did better than all the networks for the RNC. The network #'s are quick ratings. We'll know better once the full results come in. But 1 rating = 1.1 million viewers, so I think Fox either tied or beat CBS at some point during the night. You also have Fox Network, which did a separate coverage.
People tend to tune to the news that spins to their line of thinking.
So, this just reinforces Bush's popularity since most people tuned to FOX.
BTW, I just had to bounce between FOX and CBS. I almost felt sorry for Dan Rather. I think he is ready to retire after this.

Fox ROCKS!
did you see the 3 A.M. debate he had with Ed Bradley, when the latter presented him with the obvious fact that Ohio was clearly for Bush? He looked like a kid being told there's no Santa Claus, but refusing to believe it . Is there a thread about the shoot-out between Brit Hume and Susan Estrich after he called her a political "know it all"?
I missed the Hume-Estrich love fest. That's a shame because there are several of those people who I'd like to see face-down in the mud.
it happened just as Hume/Kristol/Barnes began to trash the exit polls, as the disparity from the raw count began to show up. "I always believe the bad polls, but you boys can do whatever you want." Eyes wide, neck stretched, absolutely livid despite Brit's stuttering attempts to apologise. She didn't come back on for hours, and then he had to flatter her.Actually, Barone was the only guy who was worth watching and he absolutely ran out of gas during his last segment at 1 A.M.
I only tuned in this morning at 7 a.m. because my internet was down.
I'm not watching Fox now, and won't except for Special Report until they clean up their act.
Even Special Report sucked last night, so they'd better be careful, or I'll O'Reilly them. I have refused to watch O'Blather for at least a year.
