I guess I tend to emply the soft bigotry of low expectations when it comes to Democrats. It's impossible for Kerry to win, but because it's still possible for Kerry to be completely irrational and act like a sociopathic jerk for a few more days - I give Kerry credit for not doing do.

Gore had a much better chance. Kerry was facing an impossibility unless they allow the dead to vote in Ohio. I think it would have called attention to the voting fraud going on in Ohio and the rest of the country.
The Dems realized there was nothing to gain by dragging it out and they gave Kerry an ultimatum. Unless they reinvent their party, they will continue to loose seats in the House and Senate. The party is so liberal, they do not have the base to win elections anymore, even with voter fraud.
It has nothing to do with class. If he had class, he would have spoken last night. He didn't event come out to thank his supporters.
He was with Ted Kennedy. They were probably not in any shape to face the nation.
I doubt he was motivated by his unwillingness to torture the country. He probably is trying to preserve his "political viability" (to coin a phrase).
