"It's definitely the war," said Eliana Deutsch, 20, of San Diego, explaining why she came out. "People see these soldiers who are 18 and don't have an education, and they're over there dying. It's really sad that that (the military) is their best option."
This makes me irate. What a spoiled brat. Most of our service men are highly educated (ever heard of West Point?) I had several close friends in college who CHOSE to join the military. I think it is an intelligent, BRAVE choice to join the service. I am just lost for words right now. What nerve....and she is not much younger than me. Sickening.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but you MUST have a high school degree before joining the Military these days.
What can you expect - she is a 20 year old - what did Churchil say - if you are not a liberal by 20 you have no heart - if you are still a liberal by 40 you are out of your mind.
You gotta have alot of smarts to decimate your enemy and take over a country of 25m people in less than a month!!!
Oh and a hell of a lot of balls!!!

Yep, what a horrible misconception of the military. Veterans and soldiers alike are America's true heroes--the people who earn and protect our freedom.
And not only that, it's an excellent way for kids to learn discipline and gain skills that make them valuable to society. I can name more than a few of my own friends who grew up in troubled homes and ended up joining the military which straightened them out.
I think the person you quoted realizes all of this but is just a little bitter about most of America making the rational decision in this election. :-)
My nephew has a couple of degrees and serves with pride. This girl just exemplifies the silly, petty, little snobbery among those who do not know why they hate, just that they do.
I read that last night - it is really sad - I have a friend who recently graduated 10th in his class from WestPoint - I don't think he would appreciate the generalization that he "had no other options".
But look at where she's from, she can't help it :)
Agree...somewhat.
Most of the military only has a HS diploma or GED....only the officers need a college edumacation.
...but you're right....most, like me, CHOOSE/CHOSE to serve our country in the armed services.
i joined the service out of high school partly because of people like that. i had plenty of choices of schools to head off to, but decided instead to put it off and do something meaningfull for awhile.
just take comfort knowing that those people just lost.
It's the same stupid philosophy as that boob Michael Moore who insists on referring to the military as kids that can't think for themselves. I've got news for them, these kids know more about life than they ever will. AND look how they vote...
I choose the military because I wanted to serve my country.
I can see no higher calling than to defend my country.
I guess some people just don't have or hear a higher calling.
I have a 1320 SAT. I'm an enlisted guy in the USN. That dim lib can kiss my ass.
Such ignorant condescension is the hallmark of the left.
Eliana DUEUTSCH? Yet another Third Reich infiltrator.....and an idiot, to boot.
>Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but you MUST have a high school degree before joining the Military these days.
That is correct!
I believe it was in 1979 that ONLY those with high school diplomas could enlist.
I joined the Marine Corp in 1979, and during boot camp several of the women in my company were discharged because they had GED's.
My advice to "Eliana Deutsch-bag": It's better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak up and remove all doubt.
I had three college degrees before I joined the military, all from the University of Texas: BBA '87, JD '91, MBA '92. I took a huge cut in pay, not because it was my "only option", but because I wanted to serve my country. Apparently "Eliana Deutsch-bag" doesn't have the foggiest notion of what that means. She's in it for the money and is happy to live off of other people's efforts.
My daughter got a year of college before joining the Air Force. She has completed 9 semster hours of college credit in the past 5 weeks, all courtesy the AF. And, she's putting money into that GI Bill program so she can resume college when she's out of the AF.
Did you ever notice that the military does a great job of education? Maybe that's why there are so many "military academies" out there for both high school and college?
Proof that the anti-American left just doesn't get it.
My son graduated with a 4.0 avarage from the TOP HIGH SCHOOL IN ILLINOIS and is proudly in Tech training at Keesler AFB today. He looks forward to using his GI bill fund, but he also knows that his route to college may just go through the battlefield.
It will be fun to watch the DUmmie meltdown over the coming weeks and months.
This election proved they JUST DON'T GET IT!
