Press Release

TSA Warns of Stolen Airplane

November 5, 2004

TSA officials have asked the aviation industry, particularly airports and aerial applicators, to be on the look out for a stolen airplane.  The plane in question is crop dusting Piper PA-25 Pawnee, tail number XBCYP.  It is registered in Mexico and was stolen on November 1, 2004 from Ejido Queretaro, near Mexicali, Mexico.  TSA explains that there is no indication the theft is connected to terrorist activity, but issued the alert because “members of al-Qa’ida may have planned – or may still be planning – to disperse biological or chemical agents from crop dusting aircraft.”

Anyone seeing this aircraft should immediately contact local law enforcement and the TSA’s General Aviation Hotline at 866-GASECUR (866-427-3287).
