The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.

Just saw this on Trackingterrorism. I guess we aren't going to be able to hear what OBL/OBL lookalike says, after all.

Why are they so reluctant to let us know what is on that tape? We will find out before the day is out- from jihadi websites and astute researchers on this site and others.

As we have been keeping you up to date on this story all week, we expect that this will be the last time we can update you on the status of this tape until it is released. We are limited to what we can say about Bin Laden's New Terror Tape; however we'll let you in as much as possible.

Al-Jazeera has been convinced to not air any portion of the new Osama Bin Laden video.

As we have stated earlier in the week, the US Government was strongly advising Al-Jazeera to not air this video tape, however we all wondered as to whether or not Al-Jazeera TV would follow these advisories.

We have got word today that Al-Jazeera will indeed continue to embargo this new Osama Bin Laden tape. Their executive editor has abided by US requests and decided against airing any portion of this tape.

As we have mentioned earlier today, Militants are beginning to become aware of the existence of this tape.

It appears to be produced again by Sahab productions and is already released on a few Al-Qaeda websites.

Insurgents that have seen this video describe that Osama issues more threats and rhetoric, very similar to last week's tape.

Apparently Osama makes a specific threat to the US to end its involvement in Iraq and Palestine. There is no time span mentioned in the video other than "soon".

If the video is indeed already uploaded somewhere on the internet for Militants to view, and Osama discovers that Al-Jazeera is not going to air the terror tape, you can expect to see it released publicly on the internet within a reasonable amount of time.

This is exactly the same procedure that is usually followed; just like how Osama's last tape was released by Sahab productions via the internet.

It sure did not look like him, to me. The nose. The cheekbones. The lack of aging. No ring. No gun. I just don't really know.

Meanwhile, Jill has this posted on her site- but WE are not going to be allowed to see the tape ourselves. Is this right?

What is your experience with www.dilby.com? Seems a relatively legit site with lots of links to jihadi chat sites.

Never heard of it. I did check out the sites they have links to...

Could be legit, but I don't put much weight into it. I mean, it's a plausible scenario I'm sure, but I don't think they have any real inside information. The fact that they delve into numbers immediately turns me off. Dates are one thing, but the places claiming numbers (subtracting years, number of days cine) 'tell' them something are generally way off base.

This map tells a much better story. Most of those 'blue' states are actually quite red. :) Pay no attention to New England, we are an odd bunch. My home county (nw part of CT) is red though!

My thoughts on the 'high-level assassination':
Don't think arafathead is it. The jihadis want it to look like an assassination, not a sickness. Just like they want the next attack to look like an attack (so they can gloat).

11 days after the election would be the 13th. This is also one day past the ending of rama-dama-ding-dong.

I'm really beginning to think that all OBL and his beloved AQ have left are empty threats, but I wouldn't bet my life on it.

Let's continue to stay vigilant folks.

If I read trackingterrorism correctly, our gov. has successfully censored the tape from being shown on AJ.....however- no doubt it will leak out on jihadi sites...

More arab looking men just moved into one house late th eother evening with only blankets in hand! The others living in the house (all male) get around by bicycles with just one or two cars.

Bicycles provide good transportation that doesn't require registration, insurance or a driver's license. That ditches quite a few means of keeping track of a person's living arrangements. Arriving with little more than blankets in hand is a sign that they don't intend to hang around long.
