My thoughts on the 'high-level assassination':
Don't think arafathead is it. The jihadis want it to look like an assassination, not a sickness. Just like they want the next attack to look like an attack (so they can gloat).

11 days after the election would be the 13th. This is also one day past the ending of rama-dama-ding-dong.

I'm really beginning to think that all OBL and his beloved AQ have left are empty threats, but I wouldn't bet my life on it.
