Any word of new Osama tapes being shopped around? I saw a link here on FR earlier about two?! new tapes maybe. can anyone confirm?
I'm happy to hear your husband is coming home. All the best for his speedy recovery.
Oh my, prepare to raise ones alert level, even if the country doesn't.
Interesting post, but I think the author is, as we would say over here, is drinking the koolaid. I read this as a lot of bravado as they've attacked without provocation under Clinton.
You are looking at usama with non-muslim eyes. And you are considering what that tape said with non-muslim ears. usama's genius lies in how he relates to the muslim world.
usama is masterful in the sense that he knows how to rally the so-called moderate muslims and turn them into muslims who actively join him in hatred for the West; some become terror recruits, others simply support the jihad in other ways. In all cases, they become haters of America and its allies. This is what usama has done masterfully. This may well have been his sole intention since 911, to build support across the globe against the West. He has accomplished this. (And I am not even counting the youth in the muslim world who do not know any better and come under his spell.)
usama is no doubt happy that we took sadam out and are fighting in Iraq and issuing ultimatums to Iran. It adds to the events he can twist against us in order to hook more of his targeted audiences. He has not convinced everyone that this war on terror is merely a war against muslims, of course, but he has surely gained more followers since 911.
Actual attacks may be #2 on usama's priority roster, while #1 is building support for fanatical islam.
There are a few good articles that you might be interested in reading to see more about this point of view, but I don't seem to have the links at the ready. If I come across them, I will FreepMail you or post them if you would like.

U.N. Watchers Warn Over Bush Win

UNITED NATIONS, Nov 3 (IPS) - U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan was quick to congratulate U.S. President George W Bush on his re-election Wednesday but diplomats and U.N. watchers issued warnings about future U.S.-U.N. relations.
Annan, who irritated the White House recently by describing the U.S. invasion of Iraq as ''illegal,'' has little or no choice but to welcome four more years of a new Bush administration, according to U.N. diplomats and officials.
''If the United Nations is to survive as an institution, it has to learn to live with the United States,'' said an Asian diplomat, speaking on condition of anonymity.

I think I've read this before. Seems to outline an attempt to prolong terror attacks and stress our economy trying to support our WOT. Hard to follow the translation and underlying thought pattern.
Here ya go. This is where they discuss theories like yours.
Personally, I think OBL [personally] can do nothing but throw tapes at us now. But I hedge that bet with a slightly larger one that AQ itself could have attacked, and still can, anytime they want and most likely will...in a WMD manner...i.e. nuke and/or bio.
I STILL think the reason they have held off is because they are afraid that "We-The-People" will take arms and start anihilating islamics after the next one...and they may very well be accurate....
Think of it...what can Euroweenies do after an attack? Nothing but call the cops.
What can we do after an attack? Shoot back!
We are unique in the world in our Constitutions protection of our God-given rights, and also by our nature and courage to USE them when pushed too far..
Cindy, what a great message about our democratic elections for these jihadis. We are so proud of our country and its citizens. We do not fear going to vote for our leaders (men and women alike). Do they know we have justice for ALL? Probably not --- but hopefully they'll find that out soon. God Bless America!

81. What about Us....What about us.....eom
That's still down by $3.10 from just a few days ago. Gold is have some wild and wooly swings over a short period of time. Do you think the predictions of $850 an oz are realistic? Do nusimatic coins track along with bukkion? I think they tend to do better than bullion, at least that's what my gold broker told me when I invested a few years ago. :~)
Pakistan opinion Saddam no longer a hero
Hungary to withdraw troops from Iraq
Bin Laden videotape says he plans retaliation for Iraqi deaths

And that should be Gold is HAVING some wild and wooly swings..... Sheeeesh I'm DAIN BRAMAGED....
I wish they would move somewhere, anywhere. It's somewhat depressing when you feel your vote doesn't count. I believe we were once a Republican state.
" Hard to follow the translation and underlying thought pattern."
What does your intuition say?
"The money as the bacteria, its security needs the environment of its dwelling so that it grows and grows up .
3- I repeat the money a coward, escapes from Almaama ."
Cash as bio vectors?
