Yup, Senator Edwards speaks. SoreLoserman II begins tonight, but I'm not waiting!

Congratulations President Bush!!

It's all over but the crying for the SoreLosermen!!

And now it's time for us to start planning the Free Republic George W. Bush Inaugural Ball II!

I've had Kristinn checking venues and prices and we're in the process of getting a proposal from the Wyndham City Center Hotel in Washington, DC (the other Wyndham that we used last time is already booked).

The costs have more than doubled from our first ball, so we're estimating the price per person will have to be in the neighborhood of $175 per person. We'll also have to move fast on this. We'll need to make a quick decision as soon after the elections results are official as we possibly can and then we'll need to quickly raise the funds to put up the required deposit.

So, here's the question: Are you ready for an Inaugural Ball?

If so, please post here if you plan to attend and how many will be in your party.

Thank you all very much and hope to see you in DC on January 20th!!

By the way, everyone told us last time that the Free Republic Ball was the best one in town and it was half the price or less than all the others. I suspect that this Ball will also be the best in town and at $175 will still be priced less than any other!

My wife and I were @ The Freepers Ball 2001 - an absolute blast and an honor to be there - Mike Huckabee and his band were fabulous- we have relocated to DC (Georgetown)the past year (a few blocks from the WhiteHouse) - we love to say that the Bushes are our neighbors (and we would have been devestated if Kerry won, as in, "there goes the neighborhood") - we can walk into town and we actually have a little extra room in our townhouse - maybe we can make some room for a couple of extra Freepers if need be. We will be there this year with bells on. W1 - we love it.

Freepers

I'm thinking about coming with my wife.

How hard is it to get around DC? I've never been there and would be a lost puppy.

Where to stay? Attire for the Inaguration and the ball?

Any help would be appreciated.

As much as it pains me to say so, me and Mrs. B.S. Roberts will have to pass. I hope that everyone has a great time. I want to see pics posted after it's over!

If we can both stand up, because of our bad backs and legs, put me on your waddeling back and forth dance card.

Will be good to see you again.

I was in town with a ticket, but I caught a cold at the 2000 inauguration and was too sick to go to the ball that night. Count me in for two tickets. And I hope that President Bush and his darling wife Laura will pay us a visit.

Mike, downtown D.C. is easy to get around. Metro works most of the time, the cab drivers only overcharge tourists, the meter maids are prompt and the streets are safe to walk between the hours of 11a.m. and 11:15 a.m. on Sundays when Mass is over. (It's not as bad as it used to be here in D.C.) < /kidding>

Attire for the Ball will run from Tuxes, ball gowns, business attire to business casual.

Most folks will opt for the cheaper hotels in Northern Virginia (Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax.)

Once we get the Ball set, we'll be posting as much helpful information as we can about transportation and decent hotel locations.

Bring the wife. You'll have a great time.

I really appreciate the hospitality! My wife and I are really excited that we were able to be part of the whole election process and are able to cap it off with the inauguration.

Do you have me down for 2 tickets to the BALL? and how many tickets could I possibly get? And is there anyway to find out details for my husband. He's a detail guy. Clothing, Hotels, etc. Where do you congregate? I'm new and I am so hooked. Don't know how to do all the posting stuff yet, pics etc, but I just lurk and post every now and then. But I laugh, laugh and laugh at the funny things posted...Makes my day...Kathy

Do you know how I could send an email congratulations to George and Barbara Bush 41? I think they are a wonderful family and want to let them know how much I appreciate them.

I have no idea how to e-mail the former president. Perhaps his Presidential Library?

No details, yet, other than the Ball will be on the evening of January 20, 2005 in downtown D.C. and the ticket price for FReepers will be about $175 per person.

The D.C. Chapter is making arrangements for space along the parade route for FReepers to gather and cheer President Bush.

I doubt we'll have room blocks at the Wyndham. I'll do some research on other hotel availability after we get the contract sorted out for the Ball.
