HOUSTON (Reuters) - In the midst of a key national election on Tuesday, Texas, the leading death penalty state, took time out to execute a man for a 1990 murder. Lorenzo Morris, 52, received a lethal injection shortly after 6 p.m. in the state's 19th execution this year.

He was the 332nd person put to death in Texas since the state resumed capital punishment in 1982.

Morris was condemned for killing Jesse Fields, 70, on Aug. 5, 1990 by slashing his throat and beating him with a hammer after breaking into his Houston home and demanding money.

Morris had no final statement as he lay strapped to a gurney in the Texas death chamber at a state prison in Huntsville.

We don't let felons vote in Texas. Unless they are dead and buried in one of the many South and East Texas Democratic stronghold counties. Then they vote early and often.

How did he vote?

Prison spokeswoman Michelle Lyons said Morris did not vote in Tuesday's presidential election because Texas law forbids jailed felons from casting a ballot.

Isn't Texas law great?

Mass. doesn't have the death penalty, but Boston-based talk host Howie Carr (pro-DP) always mentions when the Lone Star State executes someone and then he plays a snippet of the country song (Little Texas, I think),
"God Bless Texas"

Seems like a swift, but kinda harsh, penalty for 'Rat election fraud.

Oh, well. I suppose he'll still vote straight 'Rat later on this evening, after he's been assigned his bunk in Hell.

Well, you could just read the article.... - Morris had no final statement as he lay strapped to a gurney...

Well, I just want to know if he gave the almost obligatory apology ....
