I live about two hours north of Midland and it is snowing here. Luckily, I voted last week.
Let not your heart be troubled...nothing is going to keep people from the polls today...voter turnout is heavy just about everywhere...too much at stake.
I'm so confused.....
How bad is it out there right now? This is unbelievable -- two frigging elections in a row.
We had a foot of snow in the Pikes Peak Colorado area..temps down to zero. Believe me everyone is out there voting. The weather's been pretty warm...hopefully warm enough to keep the roads wet and passible. Keep the faith!
How does this area normally vote?
Glad to hear it. IMHO, bad weather kept rural voters from voting, so only the communists in Sante Fe got to vote.
Reminds me that I need to change my domicile to Ruidosso before 2006.
I would still vote. I would wade through many feet of snow in flip-flops....
Not again!!!!!!!!! Damn man, I sure hope folks there have their snow tires on their vehicles.
COME ON, BROKEN ICE REPUBCLIANS!!!!
In that case: take it cool ;-)
That's what I was hoping to read...
This is the update of the advisory on that thread that expired at 11 a.m. Election NM must be a new thread; wasn't on my NM sidebar a few minutes ago.
This is another reason to keep the electoral college.
With a simple popular vote, something like bad weather can skew the result by reducing the number of votes cast in a particular area.
A storm hitting New England or New York would reduce the number of votes for Democrats, or snow in Texas might reduce the number of votes for Republicans.
But with the electoral college, a state with even 10% turn-out will still tend to produce the same winner for that state.
I'm just teasing you. The threads have gone mad. I don't think mods will ever be able to regain control again!
Heavy SNOW? I haven't heard a Kerry commercial all day!
Just heard on the radio that the Tatum, NM schools will close early today and start late tomorrow.
But, we've had record early voting -- maybe we won't lose too many Republican votes -- 4 years ago Gore won NM by around 300+ votes.
Hmmmm
The Halliburton snowmaking and misery machine is up -to-speed.
;-)
Weather doesn't look so hot in western PA and Eastern Ohio....think it might make a difference?
