Just got back from voting in my precinctin N. Raleigh. Took an hour and half in line and same number waiting to vote when I finally got out. Heavily Repub area, and hope this bodes well for W. Had some troll cow with a big k/ed button prominently displayed walking the waiting line trying to "poll" us, believe me she got a cold reception. God bless the USA and W.
In SE Lincoln Co., we were #189,190 and 191 at 9:00. We walked right in, but a line was behind us.
No one handing out literature from either/any party.
3 more Bush votes frowm our household will be cast after work tonight.

I arrived at my heavily R precinct polling place at 5:30 AM to put up signs with our precinct captain. There were already at least a dozen people in line.
By 6:00 there were 50. By the time the polls opened at 6:30 there were easily 100.
We were nearly done when some guy showed up in the yellow t-shirt of the 'Firefighters for Kerry'. He went to the prominent area of the space allowed for signs and put his two signs, "Firefighters for Kerry" and "Firefighters for Bowles" in front of dozens of other signs.
I told him I didn't think much of him or his union taking an honorable profession and making it partisan. He asked if I had a problem with firefighters. I told him not at all especially when my wife lost her father as a firefighter in a tragic accident. I told him I didn't like to see firefighters taking partisan positions and that the next time the boot had to be passed, don't be surprised to see half the usual donations.
He went off on a rant about how Bush had shortchanged the firefighters and not given them all an equal per diem after 9/11. My precinct captain and I reminded him that Congress controlled the purse strings and that he should read the Constitution sometime.
He left.
We put our remaining signs about 1/2" in front of his.
BTW, no dems giving out literature. My precinct captain was handing out lists of R judges, I gave her a 10 minute break before I left for the office after voting.
I'm in the Midwood section of Charlotte. From the signs in the yards, it appears to be a heavily democratic precinct. I got there just as the polls opened at 6:30 and was #149. It took about 75 minutes to get through. The line was about as long when I left as it was when I arrived.
Voted on the morning of 15 October in Fayetteville. In and out with no line.
My boys also voted in kids voting, with help from mom of course ; ) They knew who to vote for in the major races though. They should, we have 8 political signs in our front yard, not to mention Fox News on all the time. My 7 year old when voting for Ballantine said "Patrick Ballantine shook my hand and he's gonna be our Governor".
We ran into my liberal neighbor down the street who told me that I still had time to go back and tear up my ballot and do the right thing. I told him "No way, I just cancelled out your vote. I'd walk through broken glass to vote for George Bush" A group of people standing outside let out a HUGE cheer when I said that. Lots of cars and mini vans in the parking lot with W stickers on them.

Turnout seemed normal at my precinct in Charlotte (squishy moderates). Early voting turnout was high, however.
I can't speak for anyone else, but I personally live in NY, and flew down here in person to cast my ballot. I didn't trust the absentee ballot to arrive in time (and from the sound of it, my concerns were justified).
The dem candidate handing out her card and chatting up the waiting in liners wore a rhinestone donkey on her lapel. Another one campaigning for her husband, a middle school principal, wore no pin, but we looked up her husband's answers from sheets we had on his stance on certain issues.......turns out he was in favor of NOT amending the NC constitution to define marriage as being between one man/one woman AND was in favor of schools being able to give out free condoms to students (ages 12-14 years old!) w/OUT notifying parents. Tells you something that the principal of a middle school, which requires parental permission for a child to take an ASPERIN, would hold this view about condoms, for God's sake.
Heavy in my district (Cary, NC). I belive we have 4300 in district, I was vote #707. At 8:30 am. Hey, thats 106% turnout; at that pace over 13 hours.
Forsyth County here, also. I live in Lewisville. My wife and I arrived at 6:20 this morning, and voted around 7:20. Good crowd, and very GOP heavy precinct.
I voted early last week. The nearby free parking lot was packed, but local Repubs were pleasantly helping new arrivals find open parking spaces. What a great idea. DemocRATs were just annoying people by trying to put flyers into their hands.
Report from Winston-Salem:
Got up early this morning and took my 9 year old with me to our voting precinct. Got there about 6:45 a.m. and the line was almost to the road (approximately 80 people ahead of us in line).
sKerry/Edwards signs everywhere, and a sKerry/Edwards college-age girl passing out Democrat voter guides (I looked away when she came close to me). Was somewhat bummed over the lack of Bush/Cheney signs, but our precinct usually votes republican.
Finally got to vote around 8:00 a.m.

I voted on Saturday in Apex. There was a guy handing out a list of the Republican candidates and a bunch (+15) poll workers. No Dems at all.
