Put info and links about Maryland here.

Nevertheless, it felt good to cast that vote, not only for W, but also for Pipkin (against Milkulsi) and Floyd (against Van Hollen). I do miss the old punch cards, though: when I punched that card, I used to feel like Van Helsing -- driving a stake through the heart of another Democrat Vampire!
another report from the people's republic of montgomery county.
there are three very important provisions on this year's ballot regarding the county council and property tax ceilings.
after waiting an hour and 1/2, i was informed that i was not on the voter roll of my new polling precinct. there is an elementary school polling precinct with the same name as the high school precinct that i voted at. so i double checked my address with the chief judge who informed me that i was at the correct precinct and that i could cast a provisional vote with this precinct. being a registered republican in this county, i felt it necessary to ensure that my voter address had been properly updated via motor vehicle changes that i made, so i had previously checked a few months ago with the republican party (since the county did not answer the general line) as to whether my change in registration had been completed and they informed me that it had been and recited my new address to me.
i dont know where the screw up occurred, but nevertheless they were so nice as to afford me the opportunity to cast a provisional vote. has anyone ever casted a provisional vote in montgomery county?
you have to complete and sign two separate forms in ink, both under the penalty of perjury. then you get to cast your vote by completed a paper ballot by filling in the boxes in pencil. that's right, in pencil. ink is not allowed because "the machine" cant read it. after vehemently stating my objections to using pencil, and citing the fact that they required pen on my provisional registration forms, i was asked simply whether at this point whether i wanted to vote or not.
i cast my vote in pencil by filling in the boxes.(believe me i wrote as hard as i could) the ballot was then folded and placed into an envelope that was secured with a 1/2" self adhesive seal. this envelope was then stuffed into a nylon bag with a rollers at the top that allowed about 1/8" of opening in the bag.
im steaming and had to vent. thanks for reaching the bottom of this post.
Where in MD is this? I just voted in PG County an hour ago, and while I did see some "encouraging" signs that the vote margin will be somewhat less for Kerry than expected, I didn't see anything that would lead me to believe that President Bush could actually carry the state...

Montgomery County (MD-) here. Big turnout at my precinct, dems showing up over GOP at a 3-2 rate, which is frankly somewhat encouraging given the liberal leaning of the county. No problems other than long lines.
Same where I voted also but, when looking at that tally sheet they use, if you add the Rs and the Indy's, they beat out the Dems 3-2. That was an estimate on my part.
Silver Spring, MD Here
-- I put up 3 Bush / Cheney Signs on Forrest Glenn Road last night near the Schweinhaut Sr. Citizens Center. This morning all signs were stolen.
-- Since my last name beings with 'G' I didn't have to wait to long (2 minutes). The h-o Line was HUGE and very long.
The Peoples Republic of Maryland will not vote for Bush -- but I definately vote for the good guys.

In Germantown, Montgomery County, this afternoon the lines are about twice as long as usual. I voted for the same you did; I don't know if Pipkin has a chance, but I have heard more radio ads and seen more signs for him than for any previous Mikulski opponent.
Montgomery County in Wheaton!
Silver Spring - Bush signs kept getting stolen from a yard directly across the street from Shaare Tefila on Lockwood -
Voted at Cresthaven Elem at noon with a 5-minute wait.
One small Dem table set up in the parking lot - that was it.
Interesting, no doubt... I do not expect President Bush to carry Maryland, but I have been known to be wrong, before...

Maryland is close enough that a strong Bush surge nationally could flip it from a blue state to a red state. I think Pipkin stands a chance against Mikulski (though I'm not placing bets). I would be surprised if Floyd beats Van Hollen in MD-8, but pleasantly so.
Montgomery County folks -- any thoughts on whether Question A (property tax limitations) will pass? I have preferences on the other two questions (yes on both), but won't be upset if they fail... but Question A hits close to home with the huge rise in appraised values around here...
(BTW, ever notice on any tax measure that it is always the "essential services" that will be the first to be cut without the tax increase... if those services are so essential, then shouldn't they be the last things you'd cut?)
My Grandmother only had to go next door, to the church to cast her ballot.
She had just recently changed her registration to Republican. She told , "You know, I might as well (change it), I haven't voted for a Democrat since Kennedy!" LOL
