This kills me, especially when I think back on all of the old-school sisters. Being joined by sisters in their full habits in front of abortion mill prayer vigils was very uplifting too.
I think one of my young daughters may have a vocation, but I'm afraid for her. Where are the good religious communities?
How wonderful that your daughter has a potential calling. I've heard of a few and will look for the brochures (I'm in the religious ed program and get mailings.). I understand that the convent at EWTN is quite traditional but placement is more difficult because so many want to join. And that says it all, the traditional convents have to turn people away, applicants far outnumber spaces, but the others are not necessarily flourishing.
I'll find out for you tonight when I talk to my b-i-l who is a priest on the Gulf Coast of MS. He had talked about getting a group of nuns who are based somewhere in TN to come down and establish a community in his parish to work in the parish elementary school, but I don't remember the name of the order.
He's gonna call this evening so we can celebrate Dubya's victory. He'll be thrilled to talk to Sir SuziQ who has been assiduously avoiding any news broadcasts or stories about the election. SSQ is VEY afraid of voter fraud wiping out a Bush victory. His brother and I are confident, and have the champagne chilled and ready to go!!
