Chris Matthews describes "the Catholic Vote" on IMUS in the MORNING
November 2, 2004 | TaxachusettsMan

Posted on 11/02/2004 4:58:27 AM PST by TaxachusettsMan

Chris Matthews is on IMUS in the MORNING with that other great Irish Catholic Democratic operative, the plagiarist Mike Barnicle (who spent yesterday making his on-air staff practice saying, "President-elect Kerry").

When IMUS brought up that his brother is a big time Republican official in Pennsylvania, Matthews made sure everyone knew that his father, a life-long Republican, voted for Kerry (Gore last time: life-long Republican?) because he was "sick of those young guys dying in Iraq."

Matthews went on, "My two aunts are nuns - and no one tells them how to vote. The bishops are all Republicans, but the nuns are always for the poor."

Reminds me of an elderly nun I saw here in Boston during the Kennedy-Romney campaign wearing a huge KENNEDY button on her habit. When I asked her about the drowning of Mary Jo Kopecne and the details of death by partial-birth abortion, she simply said, "But ROSE suffered so much."

Much has been made of the danger of "the stupid youth vote" in this election.

They're not the only stupid ones, and highly-paid stupid people like Matthews is, of course, cheering them on.

Or how about Edwards, who evades $1,000,000 in Medicare taxes by running his medidcal malpractise awards through an LLC and paying most of his ill-gotten gains out in dividends, not salary. Yeah, he loves the poor and elderly.

That's for sure.

1) Matthews doesn't know the difference between a Jesuit (marxist) and a Dominican (free market) priest.

And if he did, he'd side with the Marxist everytime. Isn't Matthews one of those very 'rich' he hates?

4) Matthews wants to pretend that the image of the original JFK lives, when the last 40 years paints a truly inhumane picture by the big D Democrats

JFK would not even recognize his own party for the most part today. Nor would he recognize the man who attempts to pose as him. (Dem voter fraud aside.)

It is not surprising that our soldiers support Bush as the soldiers did Lincoln. Being in danger, in combat, sharpens your mind and you see things very clearly, in black and white, good guys and bad guys. The same clear understanding that Lincoln and Bush showed.
It's the weenies like Matthews and Imus that rather blurr the distinction between good and evil so they can hide their fear and cowardice by implying it's all "so complicated, so nuanced" and "we care for the troops but"..... BS

He said yesterday on Hannity's show, that the prospect of Kerry in the WH scared him. My impression was that he'd hold his nose and vote for Bush. JMHO

I was watching the Imus show when Matthews and Barnicle were on and I thought I was going to puke! It was disgraceful, especially the comment from Barnicle when he said he was "heading to Boston to stand out in front of Kerry's home tonight." Bias at it's worst.

What kind of nun was that - rhetorical, maybe part of 'Kerry's' parish.

There's a faction of left-wing, feminazi, nutjob nuns. No doubt about it. In the '60s and '70s a lot of them left the religious life. But a lot stayed behind.

They're usually the ones who don't wear habits.

There are many people that have no clue about Kerry and his voting record. That is because the GOP allowed the entire debate to be focused on whatever the Democrats howeld about that week. CBS and NBC are actively working for Kerry. Any network actively working for a candidate should be treated to a congressional investigation soon.

I hear you, what blows my mind is that humans are the least honest with themselves.

I would have respect for Matthews if he were honest about keeping his politics and religion separate.

Too many of we Christians have put our faith in government and not in Christ. Christians would and should take care of their own and not turn over to government what is a Christian requirement.

Matthews painting Republicans as the party of rich, evil, uncaring, greedy, taking the food out of the mouths of the poor and love doing it removes his credibility.

I know many 'rich' Republicans who give plenty and do so quietly with out fanfare and back slapping.

Not much of a vote here in Florida. I didn't see those MTVers standing on early voting lines.

"Matthews is the most biased guy on tv imo."

I guess 'biased' fits him. The man's mouth never stops, very hard to learn anything if one never stops talking.

He would not appear to be so stupid if he would take a breath and listen.

A healthy pro-business economy helps the poor.

I just saw Imus in person in the MSNBC booth at Democracy Plaza (AKA Rockefeller Plaza.) He looks like he's 100 years old. Rudy Giulani was there to and he looked great.

I urge everyone in the NYC area to come visit Democracy Plaza, today if possible while the media is still there. Lot's of interesting exhibits and media activity. NBC has spent a bundle of money and will be doing all their election broadcasts from outdoor studios built around the world famous Rockefeller Plaza skating rink. NBC's coverage (biased or not) will look fantastic. Camera's everywhere including a robotic cable cam which will give breathtaking shots as it rides down the high wire from Fifth Avenue, through the Channel Gardens, on to the skating rink. I saw some rehersals last night and it's pretty cool.

Too bad Mel Gibson didn't loudly endorse Bush a month ago or so.

Too bad Mel Gibson didn't endorse Bush, period. To date, he's on the record as a Bush basher regarding Iraq -- latest performance was on Hannity's radio show.

Yup. Look how ultra-liberals like McGovern, Mondale and Dukakis fared at the polls.

Sadly, I know far too many of them, they seem more 'determined' than ever lately, don't they? I live in Joan Chittester country. As of late, her errors are regarded as teaching all around my area. A convent near to me has suffered the results. Some nuns have gone feminazi, some just 'moderate', still in a modified habit but totally socialist, and others have clung to tradition. It has devastated their group, they are literally dying out. It seems there's no shortage of this kind of nun.
