In a letter of clarification requested by a traveling minister, the Internal Revenue Service has declared people gathered in tax-exempt churches can't pray for President Bush to win the election on Tuesday.

Psalm 109:1-19?
OH, ya, I get it ... they are BLACK churches and Albore is a Dimocrat. So it's more than o.k., it's encouraged. Sheesh, I forgot that for a moment. I need to get a grip.
Or mosques
It will not be long before God pries the hands of His people from Caesar's 501(c)3 status. When we Christians start caring more about honoring God than receiving our April windfall, a great deal of gov't interference will evaporate.
Sad to say that both the clergy and the gov't know that if tax-exempt status were to be done away with, billions of dollars would disappear from church and parachurch coffers. Personally, I think this would be a good thing overall.
You are right, we needs to put pressure congress to overrule is IRS.
Bush is a law abiding citizen with morales, unlike Lurch. These two men are as different as two men can be, I love our president. May God bless him.
Conservatives who support government vouchers for schools should be mindful of that.
Heavenly Father,
Your word says "He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked. Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart"
Father, our nation is about to make a decision between good and evil, right and wrong. "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil... to those who are wise in their own eyes"
They make laws that allow the killing of babies up to 9 months and they protect the criminal. They want to take the blessing of marriage You gave us and preset it. They call a man who wants to protect our nation, who calls You his God and pursues evil men, wrong and evil. "He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, Both of them alike are an abomination to the Lord"
Your word says "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!"
Lord, we are asking, seeking and knocking. We ask for bread and not a serpent. We ask that you show favor to Your people and give us George W. Bush, again as president for the next 4 years. We pray he win this election by such a large margin that any attempt to fight the win would be laughed at.
Lord, we also ask for a great revival in this nation. One that would effect the very fiber of this nation. Lord satan has blinded the eyes of many. We ask that You lift the veil and give them a heart of flesh, so they would hear Your truth and know that You are the one true God.
"Restore us, O God of host; Cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved"
God, we pray for the fight we face with the terrorist. We especially lift up Iraq. Lord, Your name is being praised in that country, freely. Lord, help us to see that country as a place of hope. "Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." Protect our troops and coalition partners, as well as innocent people trying to rebuild a country. We pray Your words for these people and there work to be done:
"Through Your name we will trample those who rise up against us. For I will not trust in my bow, Nor shall my sword save me. But You have saved us from our enemies. And have put to shame those who hated us" "Offer to God thanksgiving, and pay your vows to the Most High. Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me." Amen!
I pray that God dismantles the IRS.
I don't understand how groups like the NAACP, The Sierra Club, People for the American Way, PUSH, NARAL, etc. - not to mention many black churches - do flagrant, full-time politicking, yet their tax-exempt status is never questioned.
I want everyone to know I will be in church on Sunday and I will be praying for G. W. Bush! In fact, I will pray out loud for G.W. just to be sure any sitting judges or law enforcement officers that may be at the service hear me!
I going to our prayer meeting Monday night to pray for a President Bush victory.
Churches can't pray for a Buswh victory BUT Kerry can politic from churches?! What's wrong with this picture?
I don't even think it's a correct interpretation of the law. I think the law says that organizations lose their tax-exempt status only if a "significant" portion of their activities involve political advocacy, and I don't think any court would allow the IRS to dictate what people can pray for in their churches.
I think the issue is if the prayer is directed by church leadership.
Sadly, there's no such thing as freedom of speech behind the pulpit<<<<<
Denying the right of people to pray because a Priest/Pastor is leading them according to Gods Own Word is not a legitimate. The IRS can not DEFINE anyones faith.
Any Pastor/Priest or congregation who allows the IRS to tell them how to pray are following the ways of man and not of God.
Holy men do not fear man or the IRS: they rightly fear God.
That being said the IRS can put their hands in my pocket book, but they CAN NOT move my mind from my faith or from prayers that I believe are RELIGIOUSLY sound. Any church swayed and frightened by this risk their souls.
The double standard is alive and thriving. And people wonder why some whites harbor anger toward minorities!
THIS IS GREAT! Dont be upset folks... we will see this little tyranical info come up before congress as a reason to eleminate the IRS in the next 3 years. ( as long as Bush wins)
Maybe it's just a matter of wording. We can pray that more people will vote for Bush than Kerry, which will result in more slates of electors pledged to vote for Bush forming the Electoral College, which will ultimately result in Bush being elected President for another term. But we're actually praying for the victory of the slate of electors pledged to vote for Bush. I wonder if the IRS would be okay with that, or would they have a problem with the EC?
Perhaps the Founders were wiser than many thought when they established the EC?
As for me and my house, we shall worship the Lord. If the government goes against Gods will one has no choice but to follow God!
Pray in church, and let the IRS try to stop you.
The Establishment clause was written to protect us from this type of crap, not so that socialists can run around whining about "seperation of Church and State".
It's going to get worse unless we stand up for ourselves and that in which we believe. These bully tactics by secularists are meant to intimdate us so that our morals have no force in this country.
This is a big part of why things have gone so wrong in this country.
