ABCNEWS HOLDS TERROR WARNING TAPE

In the last week before the election, ABCNEWS is holding on a videotaped message from a purported al Qaeda terrorist warning of a new attack on America, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
The terrorist claims on tape the next attack will dwarf 9/11. "The streets will run with blood," and "America will mourn in silence" because they will be unable to count the number of the dead. Further claims: America has brought this on itself for electing George Bush who has made war on Islam by destroying the Taliban and making war on Al Qaeda.
ABCNEWS strongly denies holding the tape back from broadcast over political concerns during the last days of the election.
The CIA is analyzing the tape, a top federal source tells the DRUDGE REPORT.
ABCNEWS obtained the tape from a source in Waziristan, Pakistan over the weekend, sources tells DRUDGE.
"We have been working 24 hours a day trying to authenticate [the tape]," a senior ABCNEWS source said Wednesday morning.
The terrorist's face is concealed by a head dress, and speaks in an American accent, making it difficult to identify the individual, but US intelligence officials believe that man may be Adam Gadhan - aka Adam Pearlman - a southern California native who was highlighted by the FBI in May as an individual most likely to be involved in or have knowledge of the next al Qaeda attacks.
According to the FBI, Gadahn, 25, attended al-Qaida training camps and served as an al-Qaida translator.
The disturbing tape runs an hour -- the man simply identifies himself as 'Assam the American.'

It would not have been billed as a "Controversy" if ABC had not held it. Our national security is at stake and they keep this from the Feds?
It has nothing to do with 2004. ABC isn't airing it because of Kerry's pathetic position on terror. Two weeks ago he said the threat of terror is exaggerated by The Bush administration.
How can some of you say that this is not a campaign issue?? I think it is very MUCH a campaign issue! This just re-emphasizes how important it is WHO IS IN CHARGE in Jan. 2005!!
What is their expertise in deciding the authenticity of a tape like this? I don't think any excuse is plausible for not turning over this tape right away. If it is fake, it would not be news for them to report, if it is real it is up to homeland security to deal with it.
Should we give them a choice of Allah? Or make the torture worse by denying them that choice?
Not if it's a fake...which is why they are trying to get it authenticated. Playing a fake tape would instantly kill their credibility.
Look, I hope all the assumptions are true and that ABC put peoples lives in danger by holding this tape and that they are completely obliterated from the news scene. But in all fairness, many are jumping to conclusions. Now, if the tape IS authenticated, ABC will have to play it, thereby gaining a huge viewing audience, a tremendous scoop, and guaranteeing the re-election of the President. :-)
one prediction last week was it would happen today -- the end of Rhamadon and the Blood Moon... for what it's worth. Guess the predictors were just getting the "vibes" about this tape!
Just watch. Sunday night ABC will "prove" it was a Karl Rove set up intended tp scare and outrage people into voting for W. Of course, it could be a Carville plant of a fake Rove plant of a fake Al Queda threat... or a Rove plant of a ... never mind.

I agree, based upon what we think we MIGHT know so far (we don't really know the facts, and should not behave like John Kerry).... IF ABC did not have the tape for more than a few days and IF they have turned it over to Homeland Security then we should not be jumping all over them for not throwing it straight on the air ala Al Jazeera. One question, which we have been worrying about here, is whether ABC was withholding the story to try to benefit Kerry - but from what we are reading SO FAR I don't see that ABC has acted irresponsibly - it would have been irresponsible for them to throw the tape on the air....

I agree. I think he start nearly every line with that phrase. My wife doesn't pay all that much attention to politics, and she told me that if nothing else, his looks and his voice give her the creeps.
Authentication by the press, or by the Gov't?
