All it takes to give the election to Kerry is a 2-3% swing.
We are now seeing that swing in the polls.
All the Bush campaign has to do is show the chain of custody over Al Qa-Qaa from when the 101st was there until the Weapons Search Team arrived a month later, when the explosives were definitely not there.
I presume we did not leave Al Qa-Qaa completely unguarded in that month.
To date, the Bush campaign has relied on the NBC report, which was later retracted.
We NEED hard evidence that the explosives were not taken from Al Qa-Qaa in that month. We need official military logs showing that we had the facility under watch and 80 trucks did not come in and take the 380 tons of explosives.
Otherwise, the election swings the other way.
This current poor Bush campaign response is NOT adequate.
The President didn't have to say much for CBS to be totally discredited on the Guard story. Oddly enough, CBS also tried to use his silence as "proof" the story was true.
KEEP THE FAITH!
I stepped in some Al Qa-Qaa this morning. Had to use a hose to get it out of the treads of my boot.
We cannot let this go unrebutted with FACTS in the Main Stream Media. So far, we are.
I agree that we underestimate the gullibility of the electorate only at our considerable peril. However, it's quite possible that Rove, et al are simply timing the "factual" response for later this week, giving the Democrats no time for rebuttal.
That's what the 'rats originally intended to do with this story, so Rove may be turning the tables on them. Let's watch a bit longer, before reaching for the mug of hemlock.
Well, I did watch MSNBC last night and Scarborough Country thoroughly hammered the NYT. I know it is only one show, but the fact that it comes from MSNBC is still significant.
One again, I refer you to Rathergate. This story is fitting the same pattern. In the early stages of Rathergate, it was only Fox and Talk Radio who were reporting it. Ultimately, the MSM could not ignore it anymore. Word spreads, it just takes a little bit of time.
Personally, I share your concern. But, this is a new dynamic. Ten years ago, Bush would be in a heap of trouble. There would be no way to counter the MSM. But it has only taken one voice (FOX) to counter the MSM. All that needs to be done is to get an alternate story out and people start to talk and question. It is happening. This discussion is proof positive.
"KEEP THE FAITH!"
I'm keeping the faith AND staying the course!
GO W!
The point is we need to spread the fact that it is BS. And we only have Wednesday, Thursday and 1/2 Friday to correct he impression this is giving to many people. So please ease up on those concerned.
So send them an email, and spare us your hand-wringing vanity.
Don't be a Nervous Nellie. We need to be positive , strong and confident to win.
Sorry: Heightened emotions in the final week. I won't find anything funny until this election is in the bag and we can unite against the Hildabeast.
My bad.
Chicken Little, is that you?
Lighten up - there is still 6 days before the election. Be positive - that energy flows!
I wasn't aware that nbc had retracted the report.
you realize that the majority of people don't even know what you are talking about? What happens to political junkies is that they think in a vaccum and get all worked up by this story. Check out the most emailed articles in Yahoo news http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=index2&cid=964 it isn't as big of a story as you think it is...
Not a problem.
I'm really very confident. This president is a true professional and I trust him. Personally I expect the president to take 40 states.
I think I have been easy. I did say I shared the concern. But concern and panic are two different things. As a matter of fact, two days ago I posted on FR that Bush needed to do something ASAP!!!! As it turns out, I was wrong, the story is working its way out by itself and is turning around more and more everyday.
Look, if we are all worried about a story breaking that will hurt Bush. . .bank on it. Now that this story is being debunked and was released prematurely, expect the Dems to come out with something else. It is a fact of life in this election that they will have a 48 hour suprise.
I think the President's campaign will be ready for it and will absorb it the best they can.
We can get it out but the MSM does not have to talk about it. They have learned from the CBS fiasco to stay silent when one has been found wrong.
I think most of us are realists or wouldn't be here. This story is a total dud though. What you need to have is a little more faith that the majority of Americans are not dumb and realize that the MSM has become a tool of the Democrats.
