South Dakota Pro-Life Pro-Family Leaders Demand Daschle Release Videotape

South Dakota Pro-Life, Pro-Family Leaders Demand Daschle Release Complete Videotape of Pro-Abortion Speech

SIOUX FALLS – It has been one week since The Ave Maria List, along with South Dakota citizens, released three video clips of Tom Daschle addressing an EMILY’s List fundraiser. Yet, despite the call from South Dakota citizens, Daschle’s campaign refuses to release the full videotape and transcript of the speech he gave to an organization that the Boston Globe calls the “abortion-rights mega-PAC.”

The Ave Maria List, along with South Dakota Pro-Life and Pro-Family leaders across the state, renew the call on Daschle to release the full videotape of Daschle addressing an EMILY’s List fundraiser, along with the complete transcript.

Rachel Hansen, state director of South Dakota Right to Life said: “Tom Daschle delivered a pro-abortion speech at an EMILY’s List fundraiser and now he is hiding the videotape from South Dakotans. Because we deserve to have a senator who is completely open and honest with us, Daschle should release the full videotape and transcript. Disguising his pro-abortion votes with pro-life rhetoric, he has been hiding the fact that he voted for abortion 75 out of 83 times during his 18 years in the Senate. I wonder what else he is hiding on that videotape.”

“Tom Daschle talks about dishonesty in his television commercials, but he hasn’t told South Dakotans that he has voted for abortion 90% of the time since he’s been representing them. The fact that Tom Daschle is concealing the videotape of his speech to EMILY’s List in Washington, D.C. shows that he is trying to further conceal his record on abortion from South Dakotans,” said Joseph Cella, executive director of the Ave Maria List.

On April 1, 2002, Tom Daschle delivered his speech to the EMILY’s List, which only supports candidates which are pro-choice. Four one-minute long clips are posted on Daschle’s webpage www.dashpac.com, under “Agenda,” but can’t be viewed, unlike the other speeches that are posted there.

“Before he voted for the partial-birth abortion ban, he voted against it. He says in his latest ad that he voted for the ban in 2003, but on the five votes prior to the bill’s final passage, he voted to kill it. The proof that his allegiance stands with EMILY's List is in his voting record and on the videotape. Yet, he refuses to tell South Dakotans the whole story,” said South Dakota Family Policy Council executive director Robert Regier.

Three of the one-minute clips were downloaded by the Ave Maria List after correctly transposing words in the web addresses that linked to the videos. These video clips are available for all South Dakotans to see at www.daschledocuments.com.

Not sure how the people of South Dakota could have missed the true voting record of their own Senator.

I've heard it said more than once that when he returned home he talked a different game than he voted in Washington. But how could he have gotten away with that for so many years, if they were paying attention? Obviously they were not? It just strikes me as an odd marriage, that's all.

Thune should make an ad showing Daschle stalling the beginning of the Iraq war while, as we now discover, Saddam was removing his weapons.

"Why rush to war...what's our hurry?!"...because, Tommy, it would be a good thing to secure Saddam's weapons before he hides them.

Unfortunately there a lot of RINO (Republican In Name Only) voters in South Dakota particularly in rural areas of the state that are voting based on how much money they think Daschle or Thune will bring to their particular interests. They are more interested in farm subsidies, rural water projects, highway funds, ethanol plants etc. than they are in pro-life issues.

Daschle has been pandering to these voters with ads touting his ability to get federal bucks and questioning whether Thune could do as well. I was particularly galled by an ad that plays up that South Dakota gets $2 back in every highway tax dollar we contribute! I can imagine the outrage if South Dakota voters were told they were ony getting $0.50 back for every dollar in tax they contributed while some other state gets $2. But if it's in South Dakota that's OK. It shows what is wrong with the system and how some folks in this state just don't get it.

Daschle will certainly sway some of these voters in what is likely to be a close election.

"The leading newspaper in SD connived in this cover-up."

That newspaper and the ABC, CBS and NBC outlets in SD have been covering up for Da$$hole and spiking real news for over a decade.

When we were battling the attempted Rural Cleansing of the Klamath Lake ranchers and farmers in 2001, I sent some of my conservative in laws in the Mid West emails detailing some of Da$$hole's enviral whacko stands. They forwarded my emails to their relatives in SD. The SD relatives claimed that I was lying inspite of attached articles re the enviral whacko Da$$hole.

That was repeated during the forest fires of 2002 when Da$$hole rammed a piece legislation through allowing timber cuts and brush cutting in SD's forests to prevent wild fires. Again when I sent emails to my conservative inlaws in the midwest, those emails went to SDers. They in turn claimed that I was lying inspite of the articles.

So it became a game with me to send emails re Da$$hole and his rich lobbyist wife to my conservative relatives in the midwest. Finally when Da$$hole played his game re the war in Iraq, that woke up a lot of the SDers.

The same thing has happened re Kerry in Ma. The Boston Globus Hystericus, (owned and controlled by the NY Slimes) has spiked the real truth about Kerry for decades. That enabled him to become a senator and a candidate for president.

"NO SMALL WONDER ZEL MILLER IS FED UP."

Just think if we could get give em hell Zel to campaign here for Bush and Thune, we'd bag it for them both big time.

I wonder how much Zel is willing to risk now for his new found conservative convictions?
