Since we can't post stuff from the Rockford Register-Star (and none of the local TV stations have a story on it) I figure I'd pass the info on.
Richard Ragsdale worked at the Northern Illinois Women's Center in Rockford for 31 years, hanging his shingle out in April, 1973, not long after the Roe vs. Wade decision. He was the region's only abortion provider. He was 69 years old and died after a short illness, which I've been told was pancreatic cancer.
Recently the clinic had gone to being open two days a week. Since Ragsdale's hospitalization, that has been reduced to one day. The Register-Star reports that the clinic will stay open with another doctor performing the abortions, and a local protestor tells me they've seen a new face showing up down there one day a week. Our bet is that they're having to bring someone in from Chicago.
I'd like to echo the words of another local protestor, Kevin Rilott, who said, "I pray that God has mercy on him like I pray he has mercy on all of us." But I will also say that the Register-Star article calls Ragsdale a frequent church-goer, and I shudder that any "church" would have a man elbow-deep in the blood of children.
The Register-star article is here. Be advised this article is subject to a PROJECTILE-VOMITING-BARF-ALERT.
He killed abortions?
Unresponsive.
No. It was just a way of ending the conversation. All the substance has been drained from the exchange, and now you are just arguing for the sake of argument.
We aren't getting anywhere, so I just felt it time to draw this to a close.
Have a great day.
> We aren't getting anywhere
Because you always dodge the relevant questions.
Why is this question difficult for you to answer:
If I, as a non-Christian, saw a self-professed Christian raping a child, would it be "absurd" for me to declare that act/person as "unChristian?"
And how about:
If you knew that the religion of, say, Islam says that Muslims are NOT supposed to get likkered up and eat a ham samich, and you saw a Muslim doing exactly that.... where is the logical flaw in you pointing this out to said Muslim?
Oh, for crying out loud. I have dodged NO questions. I have answered them over and over with far more patience than the silly little things deserve.
Why is this question difficult for you to answer: If I, as a non-Christian, saw a self-professed Christian raping a child, would it be "absurd" for me to declare that act/person as "unChristian?"
It is not, in any way, "difficult to answer." That has nothing to do with my point.
Of course raping a child would be "unChristian." It would also be against the law and immoral regardless of the moral code. It would also be unBuddhist, unShinto, unHindu, unJewish, unMuslim, unAnimist, and unSatanist.
But, I am not talking about brutal criminal offenses. I am talking about doctrine. I am talking about an non-believer lecturing a believer on what he is supposed to believe. I am talking about an atheist lecturing a Christian, or Jew, on how to interpret the Bible. I am talking about an atheist lecturing a Christian on how to live the Christian life. The very idea is ludicrous.
If you knew that the religion of, say, Islam says that Muslims are NOT supposed to get likkered up and eat a ham samich, and you saw a Muslim doing exactly that.... where is the logical flaw in you pointing this out to said Muslim?
Sure. But, again, that isn't really my point. I know NOTHING about living as a Muslim. I have never read the Koran nor have I ever spoken to an Imam. My only experience with Muslims was befriending an exchange student from Iran when I was in college. His name was Hassan and I would regularly get him stoned and drunk and we always had a good time.
That limited experience with one Muslim does not qualify me to dictate to Muslims how to live as a Muslim. Not with any validity, anyway.
The majority of the Bible is made up of the Pentatuch, Psalms, Proverbs, histories and prophets and is considered sacred Scripture by Jews and Christians alike. Therefore, I read Jewish Scriptures all the time, and virtually everything I read in the Bible is by and about the Jewish people. But, it would never cross my mind to lecture to Jews on how the are to live out their faith.
That's the point.
> It would also be unBuddhist, unShinto, unHindu, unJewish, unMuslim, unAnimist, and unSatanist.
Ah, so you CAN make proclamations regarding the faiths of others.
>non-believer lecturing a believer ...
>atheist lecturing a Christian on how to live the Christian life....
>dictate to Muslims how to live as a Muslim....
>lecture to Jews on how the are to live out their faith
Nobdy is discussing "lecturing" or "dictating how to live" to anybody. You are diverting from the point... again. The point is that someone outside of one faith can recognize when someone in that faith is behaving in a way not in accordance with that faith.
Again, Christinaity is not secret dogma. A non-Christian can note non-Christian behavior in a Christian. It is the height of ridiculousness for you to state that just because soemone isn't a Christian, they are wholly unable to note such things. Remember, a great many non-Christians once *were* Christians.
> I would regularly get him stoned and drunk
Even though you knew that to Muslims getting drunk was sinful? You *knowingly* led someone into sin? How odd.
I have answered all your questions, even the snotty ones. You deliberately ignore my points and focus on the side issues.
Make whatever judgements you want about whatever religion you wish; just don't be surprised when your complaints fall on deaf ears.
Even though you knew that to Muslims getting drunk was sinful? You *knowingly* led someone into sin? How odd.
Not odd at all. This was years before I became a Christian. Further, I had no idea any such activities were inconsistent with Islam. I had no idea it was sinful for Muslims to drink.
> You deliberately ignore my points and focus on the side issues.
That's because the side issues are the ones actually under debate. You keep focussing on strawman arguements like "atheists lecturing Christins on how to live as Christians." You make that nonsense up out of nothing. Watching you debate is like watching Creationism in action.... things just "poof" into existence out of nowhere.
> just don't be surprised when your complaints fall on deaf ears.
Religious comments very rarely fall on deaf ears. Dogmatic ears, incapable of critical thought, yes... but rarely deaf.
> I had no idea it was sinful for Muslims to drink.
And knowing that now, would you do it again? If you saw your Muslim friend getting sh1tfaced now, would you say nothing?
No. The side issues are side issues. The one issue we are "debating" is whether or not Christians should care one whit what atheists have to say about how Christians are living out their faith.
You keep focussing on strawman arguements like "atheists lecturing Christins on how to live as Christians." You make that nonsense up out of nothing.
No. That is the debate. That is what we are "discussing." My position is that what atheists think about how Christians live their faith is irrelevant. You seem to take the other position.
Watching you debate is like watching Creationism in action.... things just "poof" into existence out of nowhere.
That's amusing, considering I have not strayed one bit from the issue at hand (see above) and you are all over the place and cannot resist snotty, cheap shots.
Religious comments very rarely fall on deaf ears. Dogmatic ears, incapable of critical thought, yes... but rarely deaf.
Deaf, in the sense that NO ONE CARES what your opinion is on the matter. Why should a Shinto give one whit about my opinion of how to live out the Shinto faith? I am not Shinto. Therefore, he would wouldn't care what I have to say about it. How hard is that to understand? How simple do I have to make this for you?
And knowing that now, would you do it again? If you saw your Muslim friend getting sh1tfaced now, would you say nothing?
I would tell him that Jesus can set him free of his addictions, just like He set me free.
> NO ONE CARES what your opinion is on the matter.
And sicne you have devoted considerable effort to dancing aroudn this issue, demonstrating that you care.... that means that you are NO ONE.
>The one issue we are "debating" is whether or not Christians should care one whit what atheists have to say about how Christians are living out their faith.
Now, that is rather different from your *previous* issue, which was being "lectured" by non-believers.
> My position is that what atheists think about how Christians live their faith is irrelevant. You seem to take the other position.
My position is that facts are facts, regardless of who they come from. Muslims are not supposed to drink. Christians are not supposed to say "God damn it" or put other gods before Jehovah. Atheists are not supposed to pray. Jews are not supposed to eat pork. These facts are open to all, and can be noted by all. The person who choses to discount facts (on ANY topic) because they are being related by someone of another faith is a MORON.
> Why should a Shinto give one whit about my opinion of how to live out the Shinto faith?
Because you might be right.
Okay.
Believe whatever you want. I think we have beat this dead horse into the ground.
Have a great day.
> Have a great day.
That'll only happen when all the news outlets start blaring "Successful secret program over the past 20 years to build ten-thousand terawatts of nuclear reactors unveiled by President Bush today; economic collapse of the Middle East immanent. Aid groups expect mass famine and bloodsheed as the world has never seen before from Libya to Pakistan. Also announced... program to begin terraforming Mars within the decade."
MMmmmmMMmmm.....
LOL !!!!
That or "Nuclear Fusion Perfected. Middle East Sinks Into Oblivion."
Nuclear fusion would be good, but it's always been "ten years away."
And as far as "ME sinks into oblivion..." you've got a billion people who (generalizing here) hate the west, but are nevertheless dependant upon the west's money for their very survival. Take the oil money away, and the ME will largley not be able to support the existing population. And it's not like they'll just lay down and starve.
So, when the US annouces energy independance, especially if Japan and Europe go along... there's gonna be a ruckus. I'm just glad that they can't walk from there to here. If I was European... I'd be *just* a little nervous. Time to fire up the Vlad Tepes Division...
Now, THIS is unarguably a diversion from the topic at hand.
Manzullo has a bad habit of lying about his work on the manufacturing issue--or, if you prefer, double-crossing his manufacturing constituents.
Be careful that you do not suffer the same fate.
Haha. You pro-life crazies are quite a laugh. I remember riding by you on my way to see the “unborn baby killer”. You all looked pathetic out there, judging everybody, begging me not to go in. Trying to pull on my heartstrings. Shame on YOU! Would you have taken in my baby if I’d decided to go through that agonizing 9 months of hell to have it? I think not! You have no right to judge anybody. You’re not God, and believe me, he’s got a special plan for all of you. POS’s. My unborn baby was so fortunate it never had to be brought up in a world full of sick fux such as your kind. Holy roller hypocrites. See you in hell
ZOT!
So what are those special plans God has for those sick POSs? Im more curious as to how you came to know these plans.
