Scott Peterson's Defense Could Rest Tuesday Scott Peterson's defense team could rest its case Tuesday.
On Monday, his lawyer called on Peterson's mother to try to explain why he had nearly $15,000 in cash on him when he was arrested. She says she gave him back $10,000 that she accidentally withdrew from his account.
His lawyer also questioned police about whether someone else could have been responsible for the death of Scott's wife, Laci, and her baby.
Prosecutors say he killed her and dumped her body into the San Francisco Bay nearly two years ago.
The defense maintains ........
Well, thank goodness for that! We can at least have Election night.
Rebuttal is tomorrow afternoon.
From CTV update
Jurors will not be in court Thursday or Friday this week. Closings on Mon and Tues. Go to deliberations Wed.
Someone on Court TV said that possibly taxpayers were picking up latter part of Scott's defense but that this info would not be released. Seems any time tax money is spent, it should be public information.
I think they did mortgage their home, and possibly Lee's business as well. I do know the defense ran out of money awhile ago....the situation cries out for a new country song. Like "we lost our money and we lost our home. But our precious baby boy is still sitting on death row". Something like that...lol
Also the second degree can be used for Laci, but the jury can still find first degree for Connor. If Scott killed her and didn't call for help to save the baby, it can be considered first degree murder.
It would have to be a country western song. I don't know if you ever heard it or not, but there was one a couple of decades ago about the "perfect country and western song" and I can't for the life of me remember the singer. It has dogs, pickup trucks, trains, prison, rain, and mama in. And it's tragic. Perfect!
Hm. David Allen Coe?
They don't have to send him to death row if they convict him of 1st degree. But if some jurors don't think pre-meditation was proven, it gives them a way to convict him anyways. I'm so glad Calif law precludes the defense from using an "all or nothing" jury charge as trial strategy. In this case, it would be a dumb move anyways. I think it would only guarantee a 1st degree conviction-I don't see the jury letting him off.
Where is that devil dupa? ROFL.
lol-don't know if I've heard the song, but I know I've heard of it. I'm sure they could throw "train wreck" into Scotty's song very easily...lolol.
"Seems any time tax money is spent, it should be public information."
I agree....everyone knows how much the state's case is costing taxpayers, they have a right to know if their money went to an overpriced and over-rated defense team.
Good catch...how could Conner NOT be 1st degree? I totally didn't consider the separate murder charges. Thanks for pointing it out.
I've been so nervous about the election, that if I watch TV, it's been about the Peterson case.LOL!!!
BBL
Thanks for that info. I don't get CTV and I refuse to watch Greta, so I depend on this thread and freepers like you! Guilty verdict coming up, I hope.

Howlin the Prosecution could put on a rebuttal case that only lasted a morning. They are going to recall their cement expert, maybe Sharon, they could call Det. Grogan to say that they are NOT seizing Peterson vehicles, a lady from Torry Pines who said that NOBODY can use another memebers membership, and a lady from the bank to say that they need several days notice to withdraw that sum of money!! That could be done in a morning.
Holy cow!!!
Thanks for the ping, Howlin.
There has to be a rebuttal Jackie!! The Verdict should come quickly tho after they start to deliberate. It is either a GUILTY OR HUNG!! I hope any Juror who can't make up their mind gets the snot beat out of them. They are either stupid or deliberately stubborn.
Just got up and turned on FOX (which I normally don't care for anymore) and there you go.
What a waste of $1 million dollars, hell a public defender could of done that 'except at our expense.
Surely could have bought the amount of defense MG gave him.
Scott should have saved his money to put on his jailhouse books!
