What You Tell Me What the Hell is wrong with New York State?

Posted on 10/25/2004 7:58:20 PM PDT by factmart

Since September 11, 2001 the United States people have worried about another attack on New York. President Bush did everything he could to go after the terrorists who had done this terrible thing to the people of New York. Don't the people of New York Know that if a nuclear bomb ever hits the US chances are that New York is the city that will be hit, and still they are not standing with our Commander in Chief. They would actually think of voting for a Dove, John Kerry, at this time. I don't get it. Please, people of New York. Wake Up!

Fact: The Military backs the President 3 to 1 ... why would the people of New York not back the President of the US (Bush) at a time like this. Can you imagine how demoralized the Troops would be on November 3rd if they woke up to a Kerry/Edwards Presidency. And can you see the Terrorists Dancing and Singing and Praising Allah?

Freepers ... please explain this to me. Why New York is not backing President Bush after all he's done for New York. I'm baffled and very pissed off. From the State of Wisconsin, who I hope doesn't vote for Kerry.

Moved from Syracuse NY to Somerset Kentucky three years ago. Best move I ever made...wonderful people..real Americans..good old fashioned commen sense. Needless to say Syracuseis a cess pool, worse now than when we left. Hillary notwithstanding. Schools a big part of the problem.. Sad that the people have no idea.

You consider the NY Daily News to have a Centrist-Rightist slant?

If you lived in a city where you lived through muggings, car jackings, and drive-by-shootings what's a little nuclear destruction?

Car-jackings? Drive-bys? In NYC? What the heck are you talking about? Huh...oh...you don't have a clue...ok...I see.

They vote for democrats because its the socially correct thing to do

Urban living tends to influence such socially-oriented thinking, as opposed to the individualism (read: "liberty") that made this country great. The only thing keeping from going totally socialist is the thriving capitalism that pays the bills.

Upstate NY is not what it used to be but still many conservatives, primary problem is it's all offset with the 7 or 8 million dim libs in NYC. In fact I would say that's the main reason skerry is doing so well in the big electoral states, cal, ny, pa, IL, because of the huge demorat populations living in the major cities of those states.

It's pathetic really, skerry has 200 EV's because of a few cities.

Sean Hannity has a weekly segment called "Man on the street interview" He sends a technician out to the streets of New York City, usually a different place each time, and randomly picks out 3 or 4 people to answer some very basic questions.

___________________________________________

Horse hockey! Hannity sends that dope flipper right down to 7th Avenue in front of their offices. Penn Station is right there as is MSG. Never once do they ask a white guy in a suit anything, even though at that place at that time the street is crawling with them. Anyone who listens knows that flipper has been instructed to ask only young, urban-looking (read black) kids who more often than not are too young to vote. What Hannity is doing in his not so subtle manner is telling America..."Look at all these dumb n******! And think of it, they get to vote!"

One of the reasons I think Hannity is a pandering a-hole.

As a former New Yorker I can only tell you that New York State, for all it's beauty continues to be mired in reactionary social and economic liberalism and it has hurt itself tremendously...Upstate New York(where I'm from) looks like a ghost town...I was there for the first time in 22 years(since I left to head out for fame and fortune), and returned earlier this year...Years of silly tax and spend policies have left Upstate New York a mess ,while New York City usually continues to benefit ..no matter what happens

My observation is that it is two states shoved together - there is "upstate" which is Republican, and the City and Suburbs, which is Democrat. Because the latter has the most people, the rest are made to suffer under successive Democrat politicians. Exceptions only occur when either the Democrat is so incompetent that those in the Suburbs notice, or the Republican is enough to the left to be a Democrat.

...what you are trying to say is that the capitol and/or largest city(s) in just about all 50 states are the most liberal clots of voters in those states.

It just comes down to population density.

Like animals in a cage, humans that live so tightly packed together are bound to take on a meanness and pack mentality that takes years to undo once they're freed. Then again, like my NYC 'rat parents (in FL since 1979), some can never be cured.

"In a fair world, the area from I88 south (NYC+Albany+Catskills) would be lopped off and made its own state, and Staten Island given to New Jersey."

Almost perfect but could we throw in the City of Buffalo just for good measure? 70+% (the city's own number not mine)receive some form of government check. Either they work (well sort of) for one of the many government agencies or they receive a check for nothing.

They want to regionalise the WNY area which is a code phrase for lets keep throwing more money down that rat hole called Buffalo and the citizens of Erie County can pitch in. It is a shame because the area has so much to offer minus the tumor on the lake called Buffalo.

My family had been in Brooklyn since the late 1700's, and I grew up in and around Brownsville, New Lots, and Canarsie in the '50s. When I was a kid I was ok with my life there, but when my son was born I decided he should have something different.

My move to the South was never regretted, and the way the world works down here is 180 degrees from what I knew in NY. The only sad part was leaving everything, and everybody, behind, but it paid off.

I'm originally from Bflo, NY.

My brother still owns a couple of restaurants in Erie County, Western NY State.

The sales tax is 7%-8%, the property taxes are astronomical. The restrictions on small businessmen are stifling. Welfare is rampant, unemployment is high....too many people are still waiting for Bethlehem Steel to rise from the dead like Lazarus.

Yet, they still drink the Democratic Koolade.

There must be a lot of lead in the water causing mental retardation, IMO.

Why New York is not backing President Bush after all he's done for New York.

Because their is a large percentage of it's citizens that are highly invested in remaining firmly entrenched on the liberal, government hand-out plantation.

Regarding your post #57...oh did you NAIL it!!!....

Interesting fact: Most of the Men I know in NY are Conservative and/or Republican (and they are from here). Most of the Women (except for two) are LIBERAL. All are in the legal, financial, insurance, advertising or film production business, all make decent if not LOADS of money - INCLUDING the women...go figure.
