KERRY SPOT
Jim Miklaszewski of NBC News pretty much dismantled the New York Times attack on behalf of Kerry today.
NBC News: Miklaszewski: April 10, 2003, only three weeks into the war, NBC News was embedded with troops from the Army's 101st Airborne as they temporarily take over the Al Qakaa weapons installation south of Baghdad. But these troops never found the nearly 380 tons of some of the most powerful conventional explosives, called HMX and RDX, which is now missing. The U.S. troops did find large stockpiles of more conventional weapons, but no HMX or RDX, so powerful less than a pound brought down Pan Am 103 in 1988, and can be used to trigger a nuclear weapon. In a letter this month, the Iraqi interim government told the International Atomic Energy Agency the high explosives were lost to theft and looting due to lack of security. Critics claim there were simply not enough U.S. troops to guard hundreds of weapons stockpiles, weapons now being used by insurgents and terrorists to wage a guerrilla war in Iraq. (NBCs Nightly News, 10/25/04)
If Jill Abramson, managing editor of the New York Times, had a shred of concern over her paper's reputation for getting the facts right never mind objectivity or fairness, she would be running the correction - or at least this blatantly contradictory information - in the giant headline font and above-the-fold location that today's story got. But I guess the interest in echoing the sentiments of Maureen Dowd is more important than getting it right at the Old Gray Lady.
Joe Lockhart long sleepless night BUMP!
"Ammogate!!!!"
I love it!!!!!
_______________
Ah, then you missed DeConcini saying those explosives were weapons of mass destruction*****************
Whoa? So? did the UN - who was, we now know - as apposed to suspect - was playing footsie with Saddam,,,did the UN get them off somewhere or allow Saddam too - before we got there.
After all, Saddam had the UN over a barrel (pun intentional) with the dirty oil-for-food deals - blackmail?
Saddam: "Let me get these damn things hidden, since you and our buddies, France and Germany, don't seem be able to stop Bush, as you assured me you could." ? -
Where, oh where are the old time investigative reporters?
In a shameless attempt to cover up its failure to secure 380 tons of highly explosive material in Iraq, the White House is desperately flailing in an effort to escape blame. Instead of distorting John Kerrys words, the Bush campaign is now falsely and deliberately twisting the reports of journalists. It is the latest pathetic excuse from an administration that never admits a mistake, no matter how disastrous.
If...
A top Bush official e-mailed DRUDGE late Monday: "Let me get this straight, are Mr. Kerry and Mr. Edwards now saying we did not go into Iraq soon enough? We should have invaded and liberated Iraq sooner?"
Then...
It looks like the Bush camp is NOT going to let this story go! They'll use this to hammer Kerry the rest of the week! I laughed out loud when I read about this email, and my family had to come in to see what was so funny.
You know this had been planned too, since Kerry kept mentioning it during the debates!!
I believe if he has them, he will give the honor of exposure to the swift vets who've earned it.
Why yes, yes I do.

If you go to this link there is a box with David Kay's picture on it half way down. There's a link to Jim M.'s story. You can get a video feed of it.
I believe Lockhart sent that message in an e-mail to the National Review Online Corner.
I heard Clinton speak on TV today and he sounded like an old man. Clinton is the Kiss of Death for any candidate he is campaigning for, witness 2002 when every major candidate he campaigned for lost.
I do think Clinton is needlessly pushing himself and may end up doing great harm to his health.
I am surprised his Doctors did not counsel him more forcefully to take it easy when he has his big Library opening coming up. Oh well it's his health and problem.
Hillary rising
>>The story is over a year old!
I don't think so. I spent an hour or so on Lexis-Nexis and could not find this, I don't think it was reported in 2003. I could be wrong . . . .
Hanoi Kerry and Draft Dodger Clinton
What a pair of losers!
I was going to say the same about Drudge
What's the latest number on the crowd?
I will say the camera angle on Fox this afternoon showed a much larger crowd than I was able to see with the live shots.
On what basis?
If I showed you something YOU reported 13 months ago that would prove the NYT front page piece FALSE, how could you "let it go"?
bump
********
This could make them a little gun shy - and keep them a bit more careful for the next week - and that's all we need
Frankly, I stopped looking at Wolfson during Hillary's campaign. With his lips sewn snuggly to her rear, it was a wonder he could speak with or without wires, LOL.
