What are "courgettes"?

http://www.deliaonline.com/ingredients/ingredientsatoz/i_0000000073.asp

google image page

http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&newwindow=1&q=courgettes&btnG=Search

they seem almost more like a pepper type than cuc to me

makes me think of Mangoes.. never had heard of them until I moved to & lived in Panama for 2 years. WE had 5 large trees in back of officer housing we lived in. The rotted /fermented on ground. Thousands of them. I tought they were very stringy & a poor substitute for a peach..

now in stores they are VERY expensive.. I don't buy them. Didn't like them when they were abundant & free & don't like them now.

I have never heard of courgettes myself snugs

Amen to that - may God protect President Bush and VP Cheney and their families.
I feel better for you telling me that you are calm about it all - the best I can do is offer my prayers for a safe and successful outcome to the election.
But I will keep my chocolate bars on hand, just in case - break glass only in case of emergency. ;0)

**Ah , er.. um.. any words about YOUR Guardian??? (heheheh)**

Apparently they have apologised saying it was just a joke but appreciate that he could be considered tastless.

**I do hope people keep praying for divine protection on President Bush's life throughout the present time and through his second term. I believe this is essential;
also, for VP Cheney's heart.**

Amen to that Gretchen. The so called joke comments in the Guardian are not so funny because of the post 9/11 world we know live in. Your President has always been a target and percentage wise more vulnerable than our PMs but even more so post 9/11.

Regarding Dick Cheney's heart he looks healthy enough but I do think he has put on quite a bit of weight during this campaign hopefully once he is back in Washington full time and keeping to his diet he will loose a few pounds.

Prayers for them both and their families.

not sure you know of or can hear on talk radio Rush Limbaugh.. he has been livid over this..

it is not a joke to us .. as it would not be a joke to suggest here that someone knock off the Queen.

I know you understand. and the papers there are like the papers here.. hardly representative of the majority mentality.

The Guardian's decision to post that puts them in the clymer category.. big time!

I feel Australia & Britain are our closest allies.. differences now & then? sure.. but partners in this time in the world. None of these societies & govts will be around for ever.. look at Greece & Rome to think differently. but while we are here & in our countries we must do what we can to support and protect the integrity.

As a Christian I continually need to remind myself that this world is NOT the ultimate.. it is the temporary.. the testing ground.

this too shall pass..

but for now.. Go Bush/Cheney 04

They part of the cucumber family but are in reality a small marrow. Do you have marrows in the States? Similar in one way I suppose to your squashes not much taste mainly water.

I agree ohio.. I know we will win. What I worry about is the tidal wave of crap / dirty tricks that the RATS have in store.

We have all said, that we need a landslide to insulate us from the "aftershock" of lawsuits, recounts, violence etc.

Here in NE ohio there is the big potential. The Kerry crowd is stirring up the minorities big time to go crazy if K loses..

the Afghan election was snoot her than I think ours will be...

I think Kerry will be a more humble man at 11 PM Nov 2..hopefully the margin will be outstanding.

wouldn't it be great to see Mass go red?

Yes I know of Rush Limbaugh cannot listen to him maybe I can on the Internet but not tried to. I have read most days on FR what is being said on his show so am familiar with the sort of content etc and I can imagine from what I have read about him he would be livid about the Guardian. I am more disgusted than livid but what would you expect from this Liberal (UK sense of the word) paper.

I agree our papers are not representative of the majority mentality. I further agree that the Guardian's decision to post that puts them in the Clymer category.. big time!

Britain is an Alli of the States and will always remain so whoever is in power and I like your comment that we need to remind ourselves that this world is only temporary and will pass.

Having said this we need to arm ourselves against evil in this world and as was said in earlier post the feeling of evil abounds when Kerry is about. I sincerely believe evil forces work through him he is not a child of God his actions and beliefs are contrary to the word of God and I believe he is a tool of the Devil. Strong words I know but there are evil forces in this world and we need to fight them in the name of our Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ.

yes, re: squash.. when I googles them I came up with squash like answers.

I love most veggies (mushrooms, asparagus being exceptions) and as a boring vegetarian look continually for ways to epxeriment with new things

yes, snugs.. I have been a bit melancholy lately.. I faced my own mortality when I was about 30.. and am thankful for every extra year since.. but somehow think my years are very short... and that does NOT bother me, perhaps other than worry about if my dear Oliver (pooch) will be okay.

We often face the reality of our faith.. the tests are many and are profound. I have so much here to do to get my house in order to not leave a nightmare for my son.. complicated story but bottom line is that mom & I share a fairly large home that each of us fills with our 'stuff' ... nuff said?

Emailing you another picture of Dick Cheney in jeans this is one of my favourite ones. They actually showed this picture on the big screen at the RNC.

thanks, look forward to the pix..

btw.. I have been meaning to ask if you have seen Shaun of the dead? there are four good brit flicks that I have seen in past couple years. ..this is one. others: Raising Ned Levine; Calendar Girls; The Full Monty. Of course I am a movie addict ! go to several theater releases a week. Please let me know if you see anything that is worhtwhile from GB... I have a few movie houses locally that play the non-big production house flicks.

Did you ever see the Tripletts of Bellville? a French (ugh) adult animated flick. Outstanding. As I am a bicyclist, I appreciated the tour de France input but the other nuances were great

Not really in the pictures myself I go and see a film every now and then. Last one I saw was I can't remember its name but is was based on Asimov Robots. Really enjoyed it before then it was Strek 2.

Not into French films or French anything for that matter.

I best call it a night now - thanks everyone for your prayers tomorrow a big day.

See you all

Wave high to hunky son for me! All is well. I'll be spending the weekend in Louisville trying to help Sen. Bunnning (the old fool) on request of president Bush.

Since he's got Tenn locked up he's asked Rep. Marsha Blackburn to mobilize us volunteers (get it? Tenn volunteers? he he) to help out in Keuntucky.

Should be fun. All expenses paid by the GOP. I'll be back Sunday and will be attending Rep. Blackburn's election night party at a local hotel as we celebrate Bush's re-election!

You know of course that that's the reason W lost NM in 2000. A freak snowstorm hit the Bush-supporting southern part of the state with 6-8 inches but left the northern lib area generally untouched. This is generally thought to account for the 300+ vote loss by Bush (though I'm sure it was helped along by their finding "lost" ballot boxes or "incorrectly" tallied vote totals in precincts supporting Gore).

I really look forward to this thread - I've been looking for two days!

Thanks for the great pictures, and I do enjoy "listening" to your converstaions - like old friends. I hope to feel that way here, too!

And I even like you, DollyCali, even though you are a Browns fan :)

Prayers to snugs and all those out there that need them tonight - seems like some bad stuff happening lately, but in a few days it should all be made RIGHT again.

Goodnight, and thanks for being a nice place to hang around.
