I can't speak for Lurch and the Breck Girl's crowd-gathering ability in Florida, but here's a litle perspective, from another battleground state, Ohio. At the end of August, on a Saturday morning, President Bush drew 25,000 in the town square of Troy, OH. In September, he drew 50,000 for a rally in West Chester, OH, near Cincinnati, on a weekday afternoon. Ask anyone who's ever staged an event: Saturday mornings and weekday afternoons are tough times to get people to interrupt their schedule to attend a political event.

By comparison, "Lurch" was in Dayton, OH for an evening rally last Wednesday. The event was held at a minor-league baseball park that seats about 5,000. The Dims made every effort to boost attendance and make it look like the park was packed; the event was held after work, and I was told that some of the crowd was bussed in. They also blocked off the upper deck and the outfield seats, cutting available seating by about 40-50%. Despite that, Kerry could only draw a crowd of about 2-2500.

All-Tel Stadium vs. a minor league park? That pretty well sums up the difference between President Bush and Kerry: Major League vs. Class A ball....

I was at the rally in Melbourne today and went to the one last week in Daytona---there were 25,000 today and about 14,000 in Daytona---everyone was very energized at both of them---He came in on Marine One, with this music playing and the crowd went crazy--it brought an tear to the eye and a lump to the throat--my husband took pictures of Marine One, but I don't know how to post them on this site---but really--it was one of those "You had to be there" things---
Anyone other than him in the White House for the next 4 years, sure is a scary and terrifying thought!!!!

Well, you are off to a good start with that post. Thanks for volunteering at the event today with your family. The orange shirted volunteers were everywhere and doing a great job in making the visit a big success. (next time, more water to the stands, not just the infield). You are right about Brevard's Supervisor of Elections. He runs a great department and hopefully can keep our vote pretty clean despite the tricks that will be played.

Looks like it is crooked, but I think there is something behind the pinky that "looks" connected. The pinky is at an angle too, making it look short as well.

Bush has rallies at places like this and the BOB. Kerry would never have a rally in a stadium because he could never get the crowd that would look decent.

I went to the Jax rally. There were 52,000 people there. It was great!! Air Force One buzzed the stadium. Within' 45 min, W was in the park and everyone knew it!!

My first time seeing the President! I love that man. Great stump speech, the energy was high, and Jeb and Mel were excellent too.

It was a great rally and everyone had a blast rootin' for W. I also have a sunburn...but worth it!!

Go W!

Not fair to Kerry

Kerry would of had a bigger Rally, but he got confused on the Locations, He thought he was in New Mexico, but turned out he was sitting in Texas.

I was there today at the rally in Jax too, it was a great day!

According to the Jacksonville Superbowl 2005 website, the stadium holds 76,877.

http://www.jacksonvillesuperbowl.com/stadium/index.asp#4

If the estimate of 55,000 is accurate, W beat the average attendance for the Jaguars games last year! (53,509)

W pulled the W hair supporter aside to get a photo of him with the Pres-- it was extrememly clever- When Marine One landed on the outfield it was sooooooo awesome- the music that was playing on the overhead sounded like the music from Glory- it was incredible, then I run into a woman tonight that told me her firefighter husband was voting for Kerry because he thinks they will get better union backing - I wondered is he always so egocentric?

From the pictures it looks like 25000 max.

What rally are you referring to? I was at the JAX RALLY and I can assure you, the attendance was at least 50,000. I have been to 90% of the Jaguars games for the past 10 years and there were more folks there than the average lackluster Jaguars games for the past 3 years!
