Blah, blah, blah.

The reality is that I work for a Venture Capitalist who specializes in Biotech/Life Science.

No researchers are beating down our door for money to do embryonic stem cell research. None. nada. zip.

We do get requests and entertain investing in those doing research with cord blood and adult stem cell therapies.

In the real world this is a total non-issue.

Something else that's not being reported is some of the embryonic stem cell research done in China that went horribly wrong. Embryonic stem cells inserted into spinal cords and brains of 'volunteers' have grown into limbs and fetuses.

"When Laura and George W. Bush state that embryonic stem-cell research holds no near-term promise for helping patients with debilitating diseases, scientists on the front lines know they are flat-out wrong. "

The President is correct. The only successful stem cell treatments have been with adult stem cells. Embrionic SCs have all failed to produce anything effective. You noted treatments for Parkinsons and MS, but failed to say they were total failures.

"With adequate funding, we can see the first therapies within five years."

You clowns never do anything with your own money. You can't, because you have nothing to sell except the art of spending. You always steal it from other people to fund your bogus programs. One of the keywords entered for your post was correct and sums up you and your efforts perfectly: Nazibitchfromhell

I beleive this post was placed here to to elicit comment for political propaganda purposes. I don't beleive the "renowned" experts, nor their claims for promising treatments using embrionic SCs. Adult stem cells have proven both promising and effective. You folks might want to post some facts and ping those that could, to counter the bitchfromhell's efforts.

a recent Harris poll indicates six out of seven people in the United States asked fully support all forms of stem-cell research)

Of course when you ask only members of the royal society (that means one out of seven don't support it,right?

There is not one religious person that can support murder to obtain stem cells. You idiot.

MHGinTN and hocndoc are the two best for this.

I will say it is sick and evil, and the Catholic Church condemns ESCR in the strongest possible terms.

"In the United States, Bush's habit of mixing personal religious beliefs with public policy has slowly and subtly eroded the line between church and state. This is inappropriate and damaging to human well-being and public health. If the Bush administration succeeds in extending this to the world via a U.N. ban, it will be a sad day indeed."

The 1st Amendment prohibits establishment of a State Church and protects the freedom of Free expression of religious beleifs of citizens of the US from govm't interference. That means, both citizens and govm't officials are Free to reach within themselves for reasons and justifications for their actions. That includes those religious holdings you so vehemently hate.

What you advocate is imposition and enforcement of a set of official reasons and justifications. A set that is by it's very nature arbitrary and subjective. A set that comes from your elite "renowned". The purpose of that is to establish and protect your socialist regime at the expense and destruction of Freedom.

Human well being depends on Freedom, not the various and sundry opinions, dictates and other impositions of tyrany. Public health also depends on Freedom, because without it, only the wills of the elite "renowned" are Free. All others are their subjects, the serfs of the state.

"Bush's policies in the area of scientific research are as damaging to the public interest as his foreign policies have been to the state of international peace. "

Your claim of what the public interest is is false, as is your claim of what the science shows, and your opinion of the Adiministration's campaign against jihadi actions and and safehavens. The public's interest is Freedom and the ability to spend the product of their efforts as they see fit, not as anyone else would see fit to take and spend. In this particular case there are those that oppose growing human beings for data, or body parts. You have no justification to force those folks to go along with and finance your scheme.

Your embrionic SC treatments have all failed, as I said before. That is scientific fact. There are also known scientific facts that say using ESCs require reducing the patient's immune defenses to zip, making them a permenent patient. Of course it should be noted that you have no interest in, or beleive that effective defense is a serf's right anyway. Adult stem cells have shown promising results and are not effected by immune response.

"It is alarming that the policy being pushed by the Bush administration is not in sync with either public opinion (a recent Harris poll indicates six out of seven people in the United States asked fully support all forms of stem-cell research), or the expert opinions of thousands of scientists and scores of Nobel laureates, both in the United States and worldwide."

Bandwagon propaganda.

"In the U.S. arena, a careful look at the record will show that a scientific and factual view of the world has rarely been incorporated into decision-making by this president. Earlier this year, 5,000 scientists (including 48 Nobel laureates) spoke out in support of embryonic stem-cell research and therapeutic cloning, and expressed outrage at the Bush administration's habit of distorting science."

More bandwagon, but the claim is also false. This scientist disagrees with your claims. The claim that Bush does not consider the science is false, he has nad has given his answer. THere is no promise in this endeavor. This scientist also disagrees with yours and I do not support this jobs program for incompetent scientists. If they are on the front lines, it is a road to nowhere.
