***Barbara is adorable.***

I did not hear the intro Barbara gave her dad, but when he went up to the podium and hugged her, he looked almost like he teared up with pride and happiness. These people (the Bushes) definitely know that there is life beyond the election, and that the love of family is THE most important thing of all.

Can you imagine how much this hug and kiss meant to a grieving Mom?

God is using our President to spread HIS love.

God be with you, Not gonna take it anymore. May God comfort you as only HE can.

Psalm 33

1 Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous!
        For praise from the upright is beautiful.
        2Praise the LORD with the harp;
        Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings.
        3Sing to Him a new song;
        Play skillfully with a shout of joy.

        4For the word of the LORD is right,
        And all His work is done in truth.
        5He loves righteousness and justice;
        The earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.

        6By the word of the LORD the heavens were made,
        And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.
        7He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap;
        He lays up the deep in storehouses.

        8Let all the earth fear the LORD;
        Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.
        9For He spoke, and it was done;
        He commanded, and it stood fast.

        10The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing;
        He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect.
        11The counsel of the LORD stands forever,
        The plans of His heart to all generations.
        12Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,
        The people He has chosen as His own inheritance.

        13The LORD looks from heaven;
        He sees all the sons of men.
        14From the place of His dwelling He looks
        On all the inhabitants of the earth;
        15He fashions their hearts individually;
        He considers all their works.

        16No king is saved by the multitude of an army;
        A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.
        17A horse is a vain hope for safety;
        Neither shall it deliver any by its great strength.

        18Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him,
        On those who hope in His mercy,
        19To deliver their soul from death,
        And to keep them alive in famine.

        20Our soul waits for the LORD;
        He is our help and our shield.
        21For our heart shall rejoice in Him,
        Because we have trusted in His holy name.
        22Let Your mercy, O LORD, be upon us,
        Just as we hope in You.

I wondered about this scene, and sure enough, the White House website confirms:

President George W. Bush signs S. 2634, the Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Act, in the Roosevelt Room Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004. The act authorizes the spending of $82 million for youth suicide prevention programs at college campus mental health centers. The legislation is named for Garret Smith, the son of Sen. Gordon Smith, R-Ore., and Sharon Smith, who are standing directly behind the President. Their son committed suicide Sept. 8, 2003.

RE: Kerry and his getup . . . Rush mentioned he looked like Elmer Fudd. I thought his turned up collar was a little outdated . . . say, the 80's. :-) I can't believe PETA isn't on him for shooting that poor defenseless goose. Do you think he knows that geese are for eating??? Think Teraayyzzaa will be plucking it??

I posted this to another thread earlier. My 9th grader said the high schools around the country had a mock election. I can't believe these results as shown today at http://www.channelone.com/election_2004/results/

"American teens have spoken, and they want George W. Bush for president. Nearly 1.4 million teens voted in the nation's largest mock election, and the Republican incumbent wound up with 393 electoral votes and 55 percent of the total votes cast.

Democratic challenger Sen. John Kerry received 145 electoral votes, far short of the 270 electoral votes needed to win a presidential election. Kerry received 40 percent of the total votes, while five percent of teens selected the third-party option, though no third-party presidential hopefuls managed to pick up any electoral votes".

The link has a comprehensive chart for all states and percentages, but here's a few facts.......

In the NE, Bush won VT,NH,DE,PA.
Bush swept every state in the midwest. MI was too close to call most of the day and ended up the closest of all state results. Out of 88,000, the difference was 170 votes! IL & IA were also close.
Bush swept all SE states, with SC & MS being close races.
In the west, Bush won all but CA & HI.

A few states the teens picked for W are surprising, but overall, I hope this is an indicator that the Nov.2 election won't be close either! America's teenagers are heading in the right direction, aren't they?

I like seeing the President in his suit too. I don't think they should photograph him at his ranch in a suit, or at the tee-ball games on the WH lawn. He just looks very good, confident, and comfortable in a suit. IMHO, he looks like a president should. He's appears comfortable with people of all walks of life, and he doesn't have to dress down to prove that. It's hard for the media and his adversaries to dress him down when he wears a suit so well.
