VANITY REPORT--NOT VERBATIM.
Laura Ingraham just had a caller on her show from Colorado who said the local news is reporting people in the Fort Carson area in Colorado are receiving phone calls purportedly from the Kerry campaign with the worst sort of scare tactic.
The woman said the phone call begins with an ID saying the call is from the Kerry campaign. Next, the voice says, "Your son has been killed in Iraq." After a pause, the voice says that if President Bush is re-elected more families will be getting these calls.
Laura asked listeners out there try to get a recording of the phone call from the local news.
Before anyone runs with this story, it definitely needs to be confirmed. If it's not true and a big deal is made of it, it won't help at all. Instead, it will hurt.

I can't see the Kerry campaign doing it either. Anti-war activists, Maryknolls, and other Leftist zip wads might do it but not the Kerry campaign.
As dirty as Kerry's campaigners are they will only do things that are calculated to get votes and this doesn't fit.
"Well, if we do the work that we can do in this country, the work that we will do when John Kerry is president, people like Christopher Reeve are going to walk, get up out of that wheelchair and walk again."
I heard the woman that called in and it sounded to me like she had received the call. I could have misunderstood as I was reading an article on FR.
My guess is that if this is going on its a Kerry surrogate group like Moveon doing this so Kerry can plausibly deny involvement.
I heard the lady who called Laura's show, as well. This is outrageous and needs to be looked into at once. It does sound like something even the Kerry campaign would not be stupid enough to do, but I never would have thought ink they'd promise paralyzed people a cure, etc. They are lower than snakes.
If they are doing this this will BACKFIRE completely among swing voters and definately energize the republican base.
The only people who would view this type of tactic as good would be folks who were planning to vote Kerry anyway.. its sad... Kerry's gonna get bitchslapped on 11/2... its less than 2 weeks from election day and his campaign is completely focussed on doing things that will motivate their BASE, no matter how much it disenfranchises the rest of the public....
This worked for Bubba in 92 because Perot split the conservative vote.... this won't work in 2004. In 92 you could win with 42% of the vote, that won't happen in 2004.
I sent it to Hannity and to Mark Levin to see if they could get to the bottom of this one. If it is true, they should be able to find out I hope.
I smell a rat. The Kerry Camp is going to deny doing this and point at the Bushies for blame.
And it won't be sorted out until after it's all over.

Additionally, when a service member is killed in combat, they are NOT notified by telephone. A Casualty Notification team goes personally to the home.
However, maybe a Kerry administration would make phone calls instead.
If Kerry won then Hillary would be sunk next time around.

How many Mothers will have heart attacks, or at least panic attacks when they hear the first few words: "You son has been killed..."?
Probably not Kerry, but one of the wacko lefty groups. Still, if someone records it, it will hurt Kerry big time.
I find it hard to believe too.
As much animosity as there is by Kerry people towards Bush, you really like to think that they'd never resort to tactics like this.
But if it is true, it needs to be exposed immediately.
