Of course, this isn't Christ's message in the parable... but why should that stop Kerry from appropriating it for his own purposes.
The focus groups are, apparently, as desperate as the candidate.
Well, he's right. Christ taught us to help the less fortunate. But not by FORCING people to help through taxation, but rather through our own individual voluntary charity.

It's always funny when Dems, who argue about the separation of church and state incessantly, always turn to talking about God every election cycle. I guess it makes sense since he needs a miracle to win this election now.

He told the crowd of 1,500 he wasn't there to preach but went on to, well, preach about the Good Samaritan, the emptiness of a faith devoid of deeds and God's high calling to love one another -- before criticizing from the pulpit President Bush over Social Security and jobs.

His track record doesn't evidence a proclivity for doing anything "in truth". How Clintonesque.
So I guess the good Samaritan married a rich widow, got a rich drug dealer to set up 527s, and got the government to take the citizens' money in taxes to help the traveler who had been set upon by union thugs.
