Discussion thread for anyone who likes Farscape, and has watched the first half of what we've been dealt as the Series Finale tonight. What'd you think?
Personally, I expected it to be awesome, and found that I underestimated it. I'm VERY impressed. Of course, this is with the caveat that the science in this particular science fiction is about as soft as scifi can get - ludicrous, really - but the plots and character development are top notch as usual. Why SciFi ever cancelled this phenomenal show is beyond me.
www.watchfarscape.com is a large site of scapers discussing the mini.
It's being shown again tonight at 6 central, then part 2 is at 8 central
They will repeat part one tonight before they show part two.
I'm still getting tons of mail from people asking me to tell them what happened. Hopefully, you're all aware that the first part is being replayed right now (started at 7pm Tuesday night), and the conclusion is at 9pm.
If you're STILL missing it, both parts are being replayed again between 3pm and 7pm on Sunday.

Er, sorry, I meant MONDAY night. The conclusion actually -is- being broadcast again at 7pm on Tuesday, but the first part is not being played again until Sunday 3pm.

Alright, I'm not going to post the obvious massive spoiler that would interest most scapers after seeing the conclusion, but let me just say I'm really bummed now :(
Not that it was bad, or disappointed me as an ending. I'm just bummed :( And I hope that Farscape is brought back someday, so that that bummer can be undone somehow.

I heard about the ending. The group is in trouble and captured, then John Kerry comes in and says you can trust me, I have a PLAN.
They they are all obliterated.
End story.
I fully understand... but part 2 was indeed awesome. I couldn't stop watching even if I wanted to (and the birth/firefight scene was hilarious!). The only disappointment was that the obvious person was the spy/traitor.
Oh, that wasn't my disappointment... my disappointment was that one of my favorite characters looks to be gone for good :(
Of course, this is Farscape, and until you see their head on a spike there's always room for them to come back (especially when there were still 2 other people on the planet who -could- have helped him), but considering what happened to that planet the odds don't look good :(

It's kind of like the end of Babylon 5... it was emotional, it was satisfying, but I was still sad that it was over.
I thought it was well done, but I won't go buy the DVD collection now. I couldn't watch the old episodes knowing what's gonna happen to you-know-who.
Oh, don't say that... as you-know-who said, "we all die sometime" -- this was a death with honor and meaning. It shouldn't do anything to harm the previous story, in fact, it should be all the more pognant because of it.
There was a series about to start on another cable network recently. The series had already aired somewhere else. I went on the net and looked for episode guides, which I found. And sure enough, one of the main characters bites the big one after the first couple of seasons. The actor wanted to go on to other things and the producers didn't want to recast the role. From the descriptions in the episode guides, it was the only character I would have really liked. So I said no thanks, and haven't tuned in.
I guess it's a difference in tastes... I treat a good series like Farscape or Babylon 5 like a novel -- if I really enjoyed it, I'll read it again from time to time. Even when I know the ending and the fates of the characters, I still enjoy revisiting them.
I guess I'd rather read more these days :)
SPOILER ALERT:
Unfortunately, it doesn't address the logical consequences of destroying the "mother plant" at the end of Farscape: that the Scarrans would be in decline, and the only logical position for them is to make war on the peacekeepers now, before they lose their advantage. I would have liked to see that at least mentioned. It seems like that was inconvenient for the series so they left it out./SPOILER
It was the best sci-fi I have ever seen, on TV or produced for a hollywood movie. It was truly great work, my wife and I loved the series and hope we get to see more ...
