Farscape: Peacekeeper Wars (Vanity)

Discussion thread for anyone who likes Farscape, and has watched the first half of what we've been dealt as the Series Finale tonight. What'd you think?

Personally, I expected it to be awesome, and found that I underestimated it. I'm VERY impressed. Of course, this is with the caveat that the science in this particular science fiction is about as soft as scifi can get - ludicrous, really - but the plots and character development are top notch as usual. Why SciFi ever cancelled this phenomenal show is beyond me.

Dont have SciFi channel so couldn't see it. A great show that got too weird in the final season. Claudia Black is awesome. It's sad this got cancelled while SciFi puts on all the garbage it does. Whoever is in charge over there should be canned--they cancel the one good show they have, and never allow shows to stay in one spot long enough to attract a decent audience.

The last good thing they had on was Children of Dune. I hope they do more of the Dune books.

My MythTv will record it, but I hope it gets beyond the dismal acting of the prior series, which amounted to an hour of emoting each week to cover thin plots and thinner budgets.

Loved it! Particularly the opening scene where Scorpius ambushes the Scaran fleet. Cool stuff. Claudia Black and Ben Browder still have their chemistry. A most welcome return. Looking forward to Farscape movies! I'll take whatever I can get!!

I generally agree that hard sci-fi is superior (my favorite sci fi author, for example, is Larry Niven) - but Farscape's writing for plots and character development are outstanding enough to overcome those flaws, and the acting is superb. Farscape is simply great fun. They get more action in in one episode than you get in an entire Star Wars movie, and far more entertaining.

I turned my old computer into a tivo and recorded 6 of the Kolchak episodes(and then burned them to dvd). I'm waiting for scifi to show them again to record the rest of them.

I saw a bunch of Kolchak reruns just the other day. You gotta watch out for them - what scifi generally does is pick a certain show and show a marathon of that show all day from 8am to 4pm. If you're looking to catch a bunch of episodes on tape, just pick a night of the week, and then log on to tvguide.com and do a search for the show, and you'll find out if SciFi will do any Kolchaks that week (I forget the actual title of the show - something Hunter?) Basically, if you turn up any at all, you'll turn up at least 8 episodes for that week.
