Gov. Jeb Bush said Sunday he will not run for president in 2008 and defended his brother from critics who say the president refuses to acknowledge his mistakes.
The governor also denied a report that he knew of problems with a list of felons to be purged from the state's voter rolls months before it was discarded.
"I'm not going to run for president in 2008. That's not my interest," Bush told ABC's "This Week." "I'm going to finish my term."
Bush said he was not going to think about his next move until after completing his second term in 2006. In an Associated Press survey in August, more than a third of the state's Republican delegates said they favored Bush as the party's presidential candidate in 2008.

Aaah, the weekly "lets name all the RINO candidates we support for Prez in '08 even though none of them has a chance in hell of getting out of the GOP primaries due to their social liberalism" thread...
To get the GOP nomination and have a chance in hell of winning, you must be:
*pro-life
*pro-gun
*anti-tax
That disqualifies 95 percent of the names bandied about on this thread, including Giuliani, McCain, Arnold, Hagel, Condi, etc. The reason given for supporting (insert RINO here) is always the same: "THEY ARE THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN DEFEAT HILLARY!!!"
Folks, I hope we face Hillary in '08 - talk about your broken glass election. Its someone like PA Gov. Ed Rendell who scares the hell out of me.
My (early) choice to support? Gov. Mark Sanford of South Carolina
My prediction? Sen. George Allen of Virginia (former VA governor, son of famous Redskin coach)
Rudy spoke at the Republican National Convention with a fire which inspired.
He will be a powerful player.
McCain I last saw next to W on AF1.
Condi expressed more fire in the belly over sports than politics when queried by Sean Hannity.
Perhaps that's a smooth handling of an issue introduced prematurely.
Jeb has the double enormity of the presidential election and the multistorm aftermath--no time to respond to events light years in the future.
We will win this election; we will win the next election.
Between the two, Terry McAuliffe will chew off his arm and Teresa Cabeza Medusa will send Jean French Kerry a subpoena with prenuptial agreement stapled thereto.
Damn the chads; full speed ahead.
We win thid one and we'll win the next one too?
I hope you're right.
I think GWB is in for a second term.
At least it's looking good.
If that's what you have to tell yourself so you can live with your delusions, then carry on little man.
Eh...say what you want. You're just a punk who can't provide any evidence to support your claims, so you toss around childish accusations like the one above.
Your life, kid. But right now, with the way you're acting, you're just a waste of food, oxygen and space.
McCain has spent more time defending Kerry than he has Bush.
Why don't YOU back THAT one up.
We'll wait.
You're the punk and the little man.
I saw you. LOL!
If you saw me in the flesh, you'd wet yourself. Now quit wasting my time, fool.
I did. Go back and read the other messages in the thread. I ain't here to hold your hand, pal.
You were at the BBQ at Rabid Dog;s house.
I saw you.
Pathetic.
McCain has spent more time defending Kerry than he has Bush.
You may be under the impression that nasty posting and pontificating is "backing" something up, but it isn't.
You can now PROVE your statement by showing that John McCain has been out campaigning with John Kerry more than he's been out with George W. Bush.
As I said, we'll wait.
"Thank goodness you won't be the one picking the next candidate."
Do you know why I referred to George P. Bush as Pepperball?
If so, I'd like to know your thoughts on that incident and what it revealed about this man.
Also, do you really think a family dynasty is in the best interest of this country? Or that George P. Bush would be likely to win a single primary in 08?
There are MANY good potential GOP candidates out there... with names OTHER than Bush.
Let's see here...I was out of state in late May, hospitalized due to cancer in early June, re-hospitalized in late June. Released in mid-July, and was only able to return to work after Labor Day. So if you saw someone claiming to be "Prime Choice" at any BBQ and they didn't have a transfusion hooked up to them, then you've been played for a sucker.
So, in the final analysis, you're engaged in one of two actions here: you're either sorely misinformed or you're lying. Take your pick.
Why Dole...he's old news
Did he lose to Hillary? She ran against what's his name...Guiliani could beat her (God help us...somebody has to)
".S. Sen. Norm Coleman said Tuesday that he supports a "clear, focused, narrowly drawn" amendment to bar gay marriages."
I'm Jewish... and the last thing I'd like to see is a Jewish President.
I'm so sick of McCain and his luke warm conservatism; I wish he'd figure out whose side he wants to be on...I guess being a Senator isn't as much fun when you don't get invited in the DFL clubhouse
"You know very little about McCain."
McCain is my Senator... unfortunately. I'd like to see him retire and see J.D. Hayworth win the McCain seat... aka the Barry Goldwater seat.
Me too.
What kind of assinine sexist pilge was that? You forget we had a woman as co-president for eight years...wait, bad example...
Why is that?
