A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

The Cowboy and the Yuppie
A west Texas cowboy was herding his cattle in a remote pasture when suddenly a brand-new BMW advanced out of a dust cloud towards him. The driver, a young man in a Brioni suit, Gucci shoes, Ray Ban sunglasses and YSL tie, leans out the window and asks the cowboy, "If I tell you exactly how many cows and calves you have in your herd, will you give me a calf?"
The cowboy looks at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looks at his peacefully grazing herd and calmly answers, "Sure, Why not?" The yuppie parks his car, whips out his Dell notebook computer, connects it to his AT&T cell phone, and surfs to a NASA page on the Internet, where he calls up a GPS satellite navigation system to get an exact fix on his location which he then feeds to another NASA satellite that scans the area in an ultra-high-resolution photo.
The young man then opens the digital photo in Adobe Photoshop and exports it to an image processing facility in Hamburg, Germany. Within seconds, he receives an email on his Palm Pilot that the image has been processed and the data stored. He then accesses a MS-SQL database through an ODBC-connected Excel spreadsheet with hundreds of complex formulas.
He uploads all of this data via an email on his Blackberry and, after a few minutes, receives a response. Finally, he prints out a full-color,
150-page report on his hi-tech, miniaturized HP LaserJet printer and finally turns to the cowboy and says, "You have exactly 1586 cows and calves."
"That's right. Well, I guess you can take one of my calves," says the cowboy. He watches the young man select one of the animals and looks on amused as the young man stuffs it into the trunk of his car. Then the cowboy says to the young man, "Hey, if I can tell you exactly what your business is, will you give me back my calf?"
The young man thinks about it for a second and then says, "Okay, why not?"
"You're a consultant for the National Democratic Party." says the cowboy.
"Wow! That's correct," says the yuppie, "but how did you guess that?"
No guessing required." answered the cowboy. "You showed up here even though nobody called you; you want to get paid for an answer I already knew, to a question I never asked; and you don't know anything about my business........
Now give me back my dog."

Very, very cool. Thanks for sharing your wonderful experience with us.
"When it was all over, I floated back to the car. Even though I hadn't actually seen the president, I felt his presence."
I can totally relate. I had the same feeling when President Bush came to Long Island back in March. I took the day off from work to support President Bush, was hoping so much to actually see him, but didn't. I did indeed feel is presence :-)
Photo I took that day:

It's nice to know someone understands from a similar experience.
Thank you for posting the picture. I wish I had had my camera with me. One person in the small group had a small video cam - I was so jealous!

Hi dansy, I found this picture on the internet, I love it. You may have seen it in the papers, but I will post it for all to see :-)
Hope your visit with your daughter was terrific!
Cheering for their president: Bella and Edward Miller, a World War II veteran, of Boca Raton cheer in response to President Bush's speech Saturday at the Sound Advice Amphitheatre. Bush spoke directly to veterans and military families in the audience, saying, 'I will not relent in defending our security, no matter what it takes.'

I wish I was there with the people in the photo you posted - I even wish I had had some sort of sign to wave at the bus as it sped by. But, I think the president knew he was loved and supported by all of the cheering and clapping as he went by.
I'm glad President Bush got a warm reception in FL. On the flip side (no pun intended) I hear that bozo and his merry band of thieves and liars are coming here again. For that reason I will be glad when the elections are over.

PS - the visit was short, but wonderful. My daughter left this morning and I'm a tad "down in the dumps."

Hi, Angel!
I don't get around much anymore, but I wanted to say "hi" to you and the gang on the Finest.
Dump the polls! God chose GW for us because He knew what was coming.
He won't abandon us in mid-stream.
Drive by a little slower next time, Maggie!
