O'Neil is taking Ted Koppel apart right now and Koppel is trying to keep him from talking. this is real good.
Better yet, tonight's episode of Nightlime should be titled "Ted's Not So Excellent Adventure".

This also really shows how biased and spiteful the MSM is. You gotta be kidding, taking the word of VC and Vietnamese Communist officials at face value over American veterans. O'Neil kept coming back to documented facts (including Kerry's own account!) and all Koppel could do was blubber that O'Neill should "stop using those books!"
Really, it is amazing that W is doing as well as he is considering the fact that the MSM is throwing everything they have at him and protecting Kerry by all means necessary.
Could we pull a Rather with this, meaning do some research on these witnesses and demonstrate that they are phonies? FOr example, they only found the village after a government licensed watermen took them there. Are they certain it was the right village? Some of these witnesses appear to be pretty young to remember a day 35 years ago in a war torn country-- was that the only incident to ever happen in that village during the whole conflict (my guess is not since they also boasted of the VC control of the area)?
We could also deconstruct the story. Koppel put a lot of stock in the allegation that the fighter was 25 or 26 instead of 18. Who really cares about that? In addition, the villagers were very careful in their description of the "firefight," describing only fire from the Swift Boats and having conflicting stories about how much if any fire came from shore. The one villager who said there was fire from shore said they didn't come close to hitting anything. Since the Swift Boats were beached and within yards, they are either lying or the worst shots in the history of human civilization. There were a lot of other details like this in the story -- (1) no one saw Kerry shoot the kid, but described the VC as running after being shot by the boats and collpasing dead 18 meters later; (2) failure to find the real VC arms cache; (3) hearing the Americans yell "attack, attack" while the boats were firing -- pretty mean feat considering the same witnesses said they were hiding in bunkers when they saw the boats; (4) using different numbers of VC at different times (the same person said it was 12 aand 20 -- which one was it?)
An outrageously thin story designed to embarrass the swiftvets based solely upon the words of ocmmunists government and their veterans. American journalism is embarrassing -- if I did this on my high school newspaper, I would have been fired on the spot.

This sounds as though the man was killed by a volley of gunfire from the boat, and not anything like Kerry's story of jumping from the boat, chasing him down behind a hooch, and shooting him - Koppel should be the one worried about the villagers lying - their account seems to demolish Kerry's version of how he got his medal......

These happen to be 3 things ABC managed to provide in one way or another. Is real journalism dead? First CBS now this. The memo about " accountability" doesn't help your cause out any. In fact, after ABC jumped on the 60 min forgery so well , maybe CBS can investigate the bias at ABC. We can only hope.
