From Sacramento, California to Columbus Ohio there's a low buzz starting to swell every hour on the hour when Clear Channel affiliates flip the switch to air ABC network news. Some conservative talk radio hosts apologize to their audiences in advance for what they are about to hear from a network they or their stations have no control over.
Last night's presidential debate was a prime example. Local talk shows who aired the debate were pre-empted from comment afterwards. ABC's San Donaldson and Cokie Roberts had to declare Bush the looser before turning stations back to conservative hosts. Given the ABC marching orders exposed by Free Republic and Matt Drudge a day earlier, ABC's removal of the evidence and viewer comments on ABC's website, it's no longer a smoking gun. By default, Clear Channel Communications has become the co-conspirators of ABC's political ploy.
One look at Sinclair Broadcasting Group's actions in the television market should make Clear Channel think twice about being in bed with ABC. Aren't stations outside SBG clamoring to air Stolen Valor. Clear Channel listeners are probing their talk show hosts for information on when and where the program will air on local television stations. There's a wedding to be had here and Clear Channel Communication seems to be the reluctant bride.
Is it time for Conservative America to let Clear Channel Communication know we're concerned about this unholy alliance with ABC. Is it time for CCC's Mark Mays, Interim CEO, President and Chief Operating Officer to stand up to the networks like his namesake, MARK HYMAN of Sinclair Broadcasting Group?
Freepers have been known to make things happen. If you agree it's time to send a message to Clear Channel, here's a link. Let us know if we can share your e-mail with the growing list of organizations doing the same.

Sam and Cokey were just exposing that they agree ideologically with the Senator's far left comments about government control of the health industry, along with unending defeatism about the war in Iraq.
Sean Hannity has the 3pm-6pm slot now. I'll contact our chapter there! This could be good news if it's not just a promo for Sean's show. I didn't find any clue on their website.
I loved the poll: You have watched/heard all the debates, now which candidate are you voting for?
KERRY 8%
BUSH 88%
OTHER 3%
Not hard to see why CBS isn't well liked in Cincinnati. But CBS will find a new home at WKRAP. :-)
"Yeah [-( my dumb! Loser was the right word."
Sorry if I seemed a zealot! That one just drives me nuts. Anyway, I think I get it; message sent. Here's what I said:
Dear Clear Channel:
Recent events, of which I'm completely certain you're aware, have driven many in the mainstream media, including but not limited to ABC, to abandon all pretense of objectivity. Additionally, the leaked memo of Halperin at ABC demonstrates that a definite left-leaning bias is not only common but indeed encouraged.
It has come to the point where I dread hearing the ABC news break in my favorite Clear Channel stations. I implore you to consider replacing ABC news with news from a more reputable organization.
Thank you,
[me]
Look out! Someone good enought to tell me what a ping is. What's your take on this if in fact Clear Channel bowed to pressure to dump CBS in Cincinnati in favor of FNN?
I don't think it's going to be the new FR format.
HOWEVER, what I am in the middle of doing is developing a coservative portal unlike anything else on the web.
Right now I'm finishing up adding more functionality and more useful content and tools.
What I envision is the left navigation pane with the menu staying just as it is, and then the right side have major news. There will be a link where you can go to a "mini" portal that has the window for Free Republic, WorldnetDaily, CNSNews, FrontPage Mag, Insight Mag, Townhall, etc. I haven't fully worked out the mix yet. You will be able to scroll down a single pane, and in the mini "web containers" get everything at once.
The sites in the portal still get their hits, and noDNC.com becomes a conservative media and activism outlet.
Power to the Pajama People!
LEAVE IT TO A LIBERAL The response to our project is very encouraging. As expected the folks who love to hate our site have shown up too. But this one is so typical of "fair and balanced" I just had to out the writer.
So Savage (silly) you got your extra votes. Guess what, you were the only one to vote twice! Practicing up for November 2nd are we? |
Wow... that really worked! I'm so stoked. Now if I could just find that html tread and thank the dude or dudette. Don't you just love the lib who screams "Fair and Balanced" TWICE? :-)
A ping is used to bring someones attention to an article. I think it alludes to the sound that Sonar makes bouncing back from another ship.

I was just reporting what the announcer said at the end of Hannity today. I have called once and written a number of times how difficult it is to listen to CBS news in the middle of Rush or Hannity or Glen Beck.. It makes me crazy.
And today, they announced "Fair and Balanced is coming to 55KRC" so this is a done deal. What sort of deal this is .. perhaps is a big question. Does this mean KRC is going to be a total FOX affiliate or that they are just going to deal with the News situation.
I was really surprised the day I called because the receptionist said, "Yea it is odd, you need to talk to the program director", and she put me through! So, I explained to him, (Tony Bender) how distressing it was listening to Dan Rather denying what Sean and Rush and all of the folks here were pointing out as a matter of fact. And, he said. You're right.. I thanked him , and pretty much said .. yea right. But a couple of hours later KRC pulled Dan's 5pm commentary and played "Liar, Liar" instead. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1221661/posts
I know these folks are not just disk jockeys chasing a buck. They are good folks and not afraid to do the right thing. Anyway, so today, they have announced what they did, and we have to wait to hear what this means.
In another thread, someone said that Fox doesn't have a full news segment, Just a 60 second peal.
I wonder if perhaps Fox has been busy courting CBS talk radio affiliates who have to all be feeling the pressure. Perhaps this could result in a real shift of news on the airwaves.
I just talked to our webmaster and he asked if you would be willing to send an email to him, outlining what you just posted on Free Republic. The various Townhall chapters around the country may start picking this up by morning. What you've shared here could encourage others to do the same. Maybe its just a "Field of Dreams" but it could the the first swell of a longer wave... who knows?
the e-mail address is webmaster@sactownhall.org. I think the link for the site is the heading of the first post under source?
This could be history in the making and I can hear the screams from Madison Avenue already. With Howard Smut moving to SAT Radio could there be more behind my tin foil than I'm seeing? Can anyone envision pure unfilterd and unbiased news following an hour of any top conservative jocks? Hard for me to fathom.

Ops! Dare not use that back button huh. Sorry about the double post. I may have posted twice by accident but I'll only vote once. Promise.
Yes sir I do :)
I must admit that there is a LOT that technology can do. If you want to be able to edit content easily, and be able to build web pages and even post them easily, just go here:
http://www.students.wtamu.edu/cis105/dwnld/download.html
Microsoft made a slick, simple little Front Page free application available a long time ago.
Once you're happy with your page, just go to the menu,
VIEW > HTML
then highlight all of the code, copy (Ctrl + C) and past (Ctrl + V) the html into the message. It'll come out as a web page :)
The lead paragraph is not true. I called our Clear Channel affiliate in Columbus, OH where I live this eveing and talked to the producer about last night and any night on the post debate programming. Funny, they dump ABC as soon as the debate ended and returned to local programming.
The producer also said the talk last night was not about the post debate coverage, but the questions and the questioner.
As for ABC carriage on the Columbus station, the only time the station carries ABC news is sometimes overnight on the weekends (when Art Bell is on and so there would be no commentary about ABC content) and when they carry Paul Harvey. They do during local newscasts carry some actualities from the network during national story coverage in local casts.
Y'all ain't from here, are ya?!
I couldn't speak for Columbus as to their local CCC station and I'm glad you're right on top of it. Here, ABC grabs every slot they can take, over and above the news breaks. Is that a Left Coast thing? Don't know. The light at the end of the tunnel might be the news about Cincinnati's CBS switch and that maybe Fox News was ready to roll out Fox News Radio. I guess we'll find out sooner than later. That could be a first, right? That would give CCC an out with ABC.
Thanks to Sinclair Broadcasting, we'll see Stolen Valor on the 23rd at 7:00 PM here in Sacramento. Kerry's threat and lawyers have lost this round--- let's pray that trend continues.
Cokie Roberts had to declare Bush the looser loser...
there that's better.
