A SNUB FROM SPAIN
NY Post ^ | October 10, 2004 | JOHN J. MILLER

October 10, 2004 -- THERE'S a place in the world where French troops soon will be relieving American ones. But it's not Iraq — it's Spain. French soldiers have been invited to march in tomorrow's annual procession marking Dia de la Hispanidad, which is the Spanish version of Columbus Day. They're replacing U.S. Marines who have been disinvited from participating.

Three years ago, in a gesture of solidarity following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Spain asked the Marines to take part in this annual celebration. They were invited back in 2002 and 2003. It looked like a new tradition was in the making.

But Spain's prime minister, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, has put a stop to that. "What does not continue," explained Defense Minister Jose Bono, "is subordination and getting down on our knees on orders from a foreign government."

This was predictable once the anti-American socialist was elected.

They don't deserve our Marines in their parade or anywhere else.

Socialists rewarding Socialists = Cowards rewarding Cowards. The Governments not the troops. The Spanish Troops acquitted themselves well in the crucible of combat while they were in Iraq.

Wait 'til the Muslims decide to take back their 'historical' territory...

This latest Spanish snub comes as no surprise. At last year's parade, Zapatero refused to follow the respectful example of other politicians and stand when the Marines passed in front of him.

Now Zapatero says the French troops will march in Spain's parade to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Paris — as if French troops had much of anything to do with the Allied successes of 1944.

Wow, this is rich.

Spain capitulates to terrorism, elects an socialist, disses our troops ..............and sends in the FRENCH to celebrate the liberation of Paris.

All that's missing is the German troops.

Too bad, Spain was on my list of countries to visit soon. Guess I'll visit Australia and spend my $15,000 there instead.

Not to worry, the return of the moors will have you on your knees to a moon god, not a government.

Don't worry Spain, as much as you piss on us, when your friendly neighborhood Islamofascists blow up a couple of your schools or your buildings, we'll still be there. We will still send those U.S. Marines in to save your asses when you get hip deep in terrorists and start shrieking for our help. Because we are America, and we haven't been completely taken over by spineless, sniveling little socialist girly-men... yet.

A good point.

The French of course collaborated heavily with the Germans after a few weeks of incompetent attempts at fighting them. In fact, France arguably spent more time and effort fighting the allies then the Germans.

Spain didn't formally enter the conflict, but did side with the Germans.

Who gives a big fat Rats Butt about marching in Spain's Columbus Day parade. Before World War 2 the French marched in lots of parades but that did not keep the Germans and Italians from kicking their cowardly butts all over the world. Everyone knows that most or all the children born in France during the war had German fathers. You can see how the French influence has affected the normally sane Canadians. When I lived in a resort town in South America you could always tell the French tourist. Since they don't take baths you could smell them coming a block away.

This sounds like one of those third-rate banana republics with an inferiority complex.
