Left in the wings The looming fight for the heart and soul of the Democratic Party

- Mark Hertsgaard

Sunday, October 10, 2004

**SNIP**

Now, leftist Democrats are planning to challenge the centrists' control.

**SNIP**

If Kerry defeats Bush on Nov. 2, the left will probably demand significant roles and influence in the new Kerry administration -- a Cabinet position for Dean ... Kerry's acceptance of the left's position on trade, health care and other issues.

**SNIP**

The nation's largest labor union, the Service Employees International Union, has joined with the Sierra Club, the NAACP, the National Abortion Rights League and other groups...

**SNIP**

... no one has attracted more attention than MoveOn, the Internet- based group whose television ads and in-your-face opposition to Bush has driven right-wingers crazy ...

**SNIP**

"We're going to celebrate with John Kerry the night of Nov. 2. But the morning of Nov. 3, we're going to start organizing to take the party away from him, because we have serious disagreements about what the party should stand for and where this country needs to go," said one activist at the "What We Stand For" conference, Bertha Lewis, co-chair of the Working Families Party in New York state and a leader in the grassroots antipoverty group, ACORN.

**SNIP**

"In 2004, we have to elect anyone but Bush," said a veteran labor strategist working to link unions with other progressive groups. "But if we keep working and build on the lessons learned and the partnerships we're forging during this fight against Bush, we can elect somebody we really like four or eight years from now."

Mark Hertsgaard is the author, most recently, of "The Eagle's Shadow: Why America Fascinates and Infuriates the World."

"because we have serious disagreements about what the party should stand for and where this country needs to go."

Not really, if he loses by a small margin, he'll probably end up like Gore, and it'll turn out he was just as left as they wanted. Haven't they figured out the Dem method? You swear up and down you're a centrist, then be reaaaallly silent when people start protesting your far-left voting habits as pres. It's the only way they can get a foot in the door, because the vast majority of Americans are wary of open socialism. That's where advertising comes in, because it can make (say it with me now :D) "a turd look good enough to eat."

Oh yeah, and the nation will probably erupt into civil war as these commie bastard try to turn this country into Cuba.

I like this little tidbit....

"It's self-interest that's bringing us together," says Deborah Callahan, the executive director of the League of Conservation Voters, a nonpartisan environmental organization that has endorsed Kerry.

read it carfully. the keywords are nonpartisan and endorsed

These are the neocommunists, the folks who previously bet on the Soviets to beat the US and take over American wealth and redistribute it to those who truely deserve it. They hate America and want to tear it down, each group, for it's own set of reasons.

After the Soviets, their next hope was/is "diversity." Diversity will allow every group to have a "seat at the table" independent of any democratic process. Those at the table would then decide how things should be split up (and who should go to the camps for "retraining"). Diversity takes power away from individuals and gives it to "interests."

This writer, however, acts like the dems would be going from right wing wannabes to socialists the day AFTER the election. The neocommunist dems have been pushing the lunatic left fringe for years and are so far left and raving mad that they may actually be frightening some of their own constituencies.

"What fight. It was lost long ago."

Yes, it was. In fact, right after JFK was killed. The hard-left spiral began then, and maybe even before. This country saw its last "real" Democrat in JFK...with the exception of the rarities such as Zell Miller.

Why does it say "Looming"? This is a battle that has already been fought. The far left "Michael Moore" nutcases have won.

Good lord. I swear, the survival gene must have been breeded out of liberals, what with the "me, me, me" mentality. It's sad that a significant group of Americans now bases their perception of government on what that same government can do for "me".

I guess it's no longer, "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country". Rather, it's become, "the hell with the country......take care of ME".

They remind me of what a flock of Dodo birds must've been like, back in prehistoric times.

** Uh-oh. I got a bad feeling about that thing. What is it? **

The "bad feeling" is that this is the Neo-National Socialist component - the fascist component of the Democratic party - that is/has been attempting a take-over.
