John Kerry proved tonight that he is a steady, glib, and adept debater who offers a fare of wonkish, comprehensive answers ad nauseam that can awe an off-guard opponent buried beneath facts, Clinton-like instant recall, and classical Ciceronian rhetorical skills. Indeed, we saw all that in the first debate against a dazed George Bush.
But by now Kerry is beginning to wear poorly, especially against a spirited and engaged candidatesuch as George Bush revealed himself tonight as an opponent full of passion, ideals, and fight. As the night wore on Bush seemed the more human, the more real, Kerry the Boston Brahminsmug, sanctimonious, self-righteous, and ponderous. Where Bush seemed genuine and vulnerable, Kerry appeared peeved, fussy, and smart-alecky.

I can't stand it when he does that "Grandma Chewing" thing...that's the tic that happens right after the tongue flick.
I thnk you are on to something. However, I think the president should call him on this stuff in round three. I think Rove sees this as a three act play. If so, president Bush should say,
"Look, Mr. Kerry comes across as smooth and slick. He ought to. He's a lawyer. Mr. Kerry sounds smooth but if you read the transcript afterwards, you find out he says he has a plan for everything but never gives details. He says he doesn't flip flop but he takes both sides of every issues. He spent the first two debates attacking me and rattling off facts with an authority that makes you believe that it was true. It wasn't. 90% of what John Kerry says when he takes that tone of voice is a lie. Here are some examples of his lies (go back to 1970 and list them all). John Kerry is not to be believed. He is not for real and never has been. Read his senate record. 20 years and nothing to show for it. The people of Massachusetts should be embarassed to see what he has not done for them..."
Hmm, I'd read somewhere that his senate salary was $150,000 and was taking that as his base...earned salary. If that figure is correct, it's hardly worth his while to show up...considering he probably gets three times that or more from the missus as his allowance. I've had a sneaking suspicion that the real reason he was absent from DC so much was that he had to keep her happy, be there to laugh at her jokes, etc., go shopping. He's been looking out for number one. And before that marriage, he had to spend time looking for the first rich wife, stalk her, marry her, etc.. Then look for someone much richer. He must have spent weeks, months, years, plotting and stalking rich women. What happened to real life? Integrity, making and keeping friends, even if they don't have money. I think it was Mark Steyn who wrote last week that GW lives in Crawford, Texas, where no one would live unless they really wanted to. GW is a real man, a normal human being. Kerry isn't.
My eldest son, the idiot pacifist psych prof happy as a clam in NZ's socialist paradise, (and that says it all), says he won't vote for Kerry, whom he considers to be an empty suit. Of course he won't vote for GW. With him in the oval office, the US is a 'rogue state', I kid you not. So I gather it's a toss-up between Nader and some write-in protest vote.
That's because he doesn't want it known that she is in the 15% tax bracket. No wonder she doesn't want to release her tax returns.
BTTT
You missed the part that said:
<< What is wrong with you? You excerpt more of Steyn than this entire posting. You're sick. >>
That part is spot on!
I lived in Auckland, NZ for 2 yrs. back
in the 1980's.......{{{{Shudder}}}}
"Game for next debate is ;
1 drink everytime Kerry says PLAN
2 drinks everytime he says Vietnam.
3 drinks everytime he licks his lips or sticks out his tongue."
Try 4 drinks everytime he says, "but".
"I believe in "X", but "Y" is important too."
"Saddam was a menace that needed to be dealt with, but..."
Kerry's latest plan is to wheel a large wooden rabbit into Fallujah....
Good Plan? It's a jimdandy plan, a plan for the ages, the kind of plan that any planner would be proud to call his own.
Excellent historian, with a good analysis. It doesn't get much better than that.
Yeah that was really funny, and I am sure she was in the room. Don't you think she'd be pissed that he was claiming that her income is his and leaving her out entirely?
" But MOMSEY, I meant that you and I were lumped in all together, you know how these people have to be fed things like that, Don't ya?"
What did Kerry say about the Yankees????
Anyone else notice this??
Very strange - is it for the long front tooth???
LMAO! That's beautiful! Now, that's the line I wish Bush would use in response to Kerry's incessant "I've got a [secret] plan for that..." Kerry's not the only pompous windbag who believes they have a "better" plan, when in fact all they have is just another notion. I wouldn't mind at all if someone were to offered suggestions about what they believe might work better, but these @$$e$ like Kerry are so cock-sure that they have the brilliance that transcends - that makes me sick!
bump and thanks!
