(Excerpt of) Online Petition
To: Senator John Kerry (D-MA)
Upon your return from Vietnam, you betrayed your fellow veterans by accusing them of engaging in horrendous war crimes. Through your post-war activities, and during Senate testimony viewed by the entire nation, you created and nurtured the myth that American soldiers in Vietnam were involved in such crimes on a daily basis, and that such activity was sanctioned by our commanding officers. Specifically, you stated that we: "had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, [and] razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan."
You continue today to make claims of atrocities for which you have no documentation, no support, and no evidence.

That said; I wish they would just do one easy one - show the Vietnemese communists appreciation of John Kerry - just tell America that his picture is hanging in the 'War Rememberance' museum in Saigon (formerly HoChiMihn City). . .with a voice offering the wisdom - or variation of - 'the friend of my enemy. . .is my enemy. . .'
This man cannot be President. . .

signed and bump again!
Done.
What's the plan with this petition? Are they going to submit it to him in some grandiose fashion, to draw media attention to the points, or what?
47, I haven't a clue what their plans are. All I know is that these are extremely honorable VN war vets and they deserve our support. I sat in the BOQ Bar at Pensacola drinking 25 cent beers watching Saigon fall in 1975, and cried for my friend Butch who had voluntarily enlisted in the USMC and died at Hue a few years prior. Later, I had the very extreme honor of being Flag LT for a VN POW who spent 6.5 years in the can ....what a hero, and what a great AMERICAN. These people risked all and suffered all for the rest of us. Mr. Kerry isn't worthy of the kleenex you blow your nose in. But I don't have a strong opinion on the issue.
Heh, no, not at all.
They do deserve our support. I was happy to sign the petition without even knowing if there were plans for it. It's also another reason I'm responding to your response. This is a double bump thread imo. hehe
Signed, Sealed, and Delivered.
Semper Fi!
We can change the world if we just hang together. The other side is hate based - we are SO positive. Dig in - 4 weeks to go.

47 - this thread was my first post. I've been lurking for a while, but this issue seemed important enough to go public. I have not been disappointed.
