REGISTERING VS VOTING: Voter Fraud and Voting

I got a question I've wanted to pose to everyone on FR so it goes. I've been reading on here numerous times about possible voter fraud and what it could mean to the Bush re-election. The question I have is this; even though all these new applications for voter registration are being received in states like Ohio, Neveda, Michigan, and others, don't the people still have to vote using these false registrations for this to become an effective ploy to use? I mean even though all these registrations for new voters are coming in I would assume that the people would still have to physically vote right?

If these registrations are fraudulent, and the people's name on them don't actually exist, then it wouldn't really matter how many registrations were received would it>

And it would take a great organizational structure to follow up and try to have someone cast a vote using all these registrations. Surely if the same person was going around and voting numerous times using different voter registration credentials in different districts the logistics of doing that would be enormous.

That's right.

There is also an attitude, here on FR, that only the left wingers are engaging in vote fraud.

I suggest that there will be widespread irregularities and both sides will be guilty.

I posed a question a while back on a thread that asked, "How far would you go to elect your chosen candidate?"

I got many very indignant public replies that suggested that "republicans" were above such things..........

I also got a number of private e-mails telling me that we should indeed do "whatever it takes" to elect bush, including multiple votes, dirty tricks, scare tactics, etc.

I often wonder if it matters......................

Some of the articles I have read,indicate there is a tremendous increase of absentee ballots in a lot of countys near or in some of the larger cities.

I read somewhere the other day that probably as high as 1/3 of the ballots have already been cast (not all fradulant, of course)

Really, to cheat the system, all you need is an insider at a polling place willing to drop a bunch of fake ballots in a box. It's all too easy.

I think in Ohio they at least check the number of people who signed in to vote vs. the number of ballots taken off the pad vs. the number actually voted. It's more complicated than just slipping in a bunch of prevoted ballots.

You don't even have to sign your name? In NM we have to sign our name on the line next to our name in the registration list. We don't have to show any ID though.

Well, if the dems didn't think it would be effective, why have they spent $300,000,000 doing it?

I'm calling in to the county to make sure someone hasn't requested an absentee ballot in my name. Since Texas isn't really in play, and my county votes overwhelmingly Republican, I kind of doubt it. But it still doesn't hurt to check. If you're in a swing state, you better make damn sure that someone isn't going to be voting for you by absentee, and that's just one way they can screw us. There are others, like registering felons, taking advantage of old folks in nursing homes, and casting votes for people who are dead or don't even exist. That's just a few examples. There are more.

We better get ready for a battle, because this election is in the process of being stolen by the democrats and their side kicks, the MSM. Anyone who thinks that debate was fair needs to do what I did this morning and take out the answers and just look at the questions and what really happened there. I made some notes on it, but I'll have to edit out the profanity before I post it here on FR.

This is shaping up to be the dirtiest election we've ever had. I don't have any doubts about that whatsoever.

It's possible that the bad guys could organize enough false voters using those new registrations to make a difference.

I still think the most effective way to combat this use of false registration is for all of us to spread the news of rewards being offered for turning in people voting fraudulently. This rumor needs to "own" the new media for the next couple of weeks.

Very interesting, and I live in Indiana myself. I wonder now, how many of these ballots are Republican and how many are Demorats?

Certainly some places are better than others. It is the same day registration/vote with no ID that scares me the most unless a real-time check is put into place. And that certainly won't happen anytime soon.

Why do you think the person who casts a ballot under name x has to be x? Why do you think Dems refuse simple requirements like showing an ID to vote? Ever heard the adage vote early, vote often?

Although I seldom reply, I have been reading Free Republic on a daily basis for years. I am very worried about this kind of voter fraud and really want to comment. I hope this is OK.

Each state's voter registration card requires signing an oath stating that all the information filled in on the card is true and that the person meets the state requirements to vote in that state. It states within this oath that it is a crime to register if the person is not qualified to vote. So, someone has already committed a crime when information on the voter registration card is deliberately false or the signature is not the signature of the person whose name in on the card.

When there is intent to commit voter fraud, the person who fills out the card in someone else's name may requests an absentee ballot and then vote many times - several people organized to do this could change the outcome of an election in a state.

I hope election officials are on top of this and that the offenders have to pay the maximum penalty.

Care to offer anything to substantiate that claim? I have yet to see an example of Republican vote fraud efforts. If you have, feel free to provide a link.

It just occurred to me, in a conversation with my daughter yesterday she was sending a copy of my grandaughters license to her because she is voting absentee from college (Temple)and she had to send a photo copy along with the ballot. (thats here in PA) (she is voting Republican, good 18 year old grandaughter,huh?)

This thread got me motivated to check to see if anyone has attempted to register my mother. She resides in a nursing home and is incapable, mentally, of voting. I have her power of attorney, and I have NOT registered her. Therefore, if she is registered, it was done illegally. I WILL follow up on this if needed

I suggest anyone in a similar situation investigate as well. Registration lists are public records and may even be available on line in some areas

Evidently there are folks who are not afraid getting caught, or know they won't be caught. Whatever the reason, I am afraid for this years elections and I hope GWB's re-election bid is a landslide so this won't make a difference this time around. But there better be some kind of federal review and overhaul of the voting system for the next one.

Have you confirmed that those e-mails actually came from our side, rather than RAT tricksters, who will use them as evidence of Republican misbehavior?

If one of our own misbehaves, WE should report him. Remember, Republicans forced Nixon out, not RATS.

Until the sheep turn the heat up on our elected officials to fix the problems there will never be anything done to correct the situation. After the elections we tend to forget about these situations and only come back alive in four years when it starts happening again.

This is just anecdotal, but my sister requested an absentee ballot this past week here in Arizona, the frazzled clerk said they had been bombarded with requests to register and for ballots. She said that this was happening all over the country. Could be just panic over the last days to register, though. (my first posting, pls forgive if I've done this wrong)

Please re-read my post, I'm simply communicating some of the feedback I got.

Substantiate? I am only voicing my opinion. You can agree or not, I don't care.

I believe that it is a political reality that cheating will occur.

I believe that anyone who considers themselves politically engaged would accept this statement as fact.

I believe that neither side would stand by, stamp their feet and cry "no-fair"!! if they felt that the other side had cheated. They would fight back with the same weapons.

I believe that politics is a dirty business.

It would, from my point of view, be naive to think otherwise.
