WASHINGTON (AP) -- In the presidential campaign's closing weeks, Democrats are bracing for an "October Surprise," an event so dramatic it could influence the election's outcome. The capture of Osama bin Laden, for instance.
It's part of American political lore: the party out of power worries about a last-minute surprise engineered by the party in power. Now that October has arrived and the election is just a month away, speculation is rife among Democrats that President Bush and political mastermind Karl Rove have some tricks up their sleeves.
"I assume that it will be something," said House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of California. "We have to be ready for that."

My guess is the Swift Boat guys KNOW that JK was dishonorably discharged ... they were his commanders. I think the facts will come out from them and we will find that President Clinton had it "taken care of". They will have facts, documents, (real, not fake) showing his DD. Again, this is just my guess, I have no evidence. It just seems like the type of thing they have been talking about.
It's revealing, that the Dims fear the capture of Bin Laden. It's also telling that they have nothing to run on.

then advocated their position to the American people
and governmennt.
"How about a link showing the Kerry's were getting kickbacks from Saddam through the oil for food program for sales of WMD brokered by Kerry through France and Germany! LOL"

I fervently hope the movie exists and that Karl Rove has a copy. If it does, it might be an 8mm home movie. I doubt that the MSM taped anyone taking a piss.
I was thinking the (D)Rats would have a "November Surprise"...

WMD I hope. Or better yet the Food for Oil scandle breaks big time. Everyone should know how Saddam bought off the UN Security Council. If that's not a case for war I don't know what is. Maybe undecided will think twice about the value of a global test for war and having endless summits like Kerry wants.
They are bashing Bush for not replying to Kerry about this (fill in the blank) and not refuting Kerry's claims about that (fill in the blank) and so on and so on. As for Bush saying the same thing, that's a GOOD thing. What do you want him to do, contradict himself like Kerry did?
The debate went well for Bush so far as substance is concerned and that is what should matter most. It will to most people. Think of it this way, Kerry won the evening gown and swimsuit competiton but Bush won the talent competiton and the congeniality award. Those are the two that score highest.
I wish people posting here would stop running Bush and his manager down. The Dims do enough of that as it is. The debate went fine. It wasn't a perfect 10 for Bush but it was far from a Zero.
"October Surprises" are not necessarily all engineered by the party in power. I believe in fact there are some October Surprises on their way overseas, by forces who want Kerry to win. The REAL October Surprise will be that their little antics will backfire, and further reassure the election of Bush.
Bush needs to do one thing in the next debates to turn the entire thing around.

Well; for it to be good for the Repubs; it would have to be something good for America.
Now that IS something to send a shudder up the artificial spines of the Democrats.
Truth of the matter; there is only one group of people who believe that the end justifies any means; and that is America's New Demokrats. . .and when implementing 'those means'; are never to be held accountable. . .(where is Sandy Berger these days? Dan still doing the news?)
There is only one constituency that would offer that President Bush would essentially commit a treason against America so as to enhance his chances of winning; and not be held accountable.
And then there is the 'Florida Voter Fraud Myth'. . .only one constituency responsible for the lies. . .AND the fraud.
Cannot mention the above without thinking of the last gift of a President from the Democrats. . .
What the heck is Clinton doing; recovering without the benefit of the public eye? Not even a picture or a mention of his going home; leaving hospital in a weakened state and in a a wheel-chair?
Perhaps 'Clintons' Media' thinks he is another Roosevelt and must not be seen; in any kind of compromising/weakened condition. . .
One precinct in Fort Lauderdale had a 107% turnout.
That is motivation!
...In fact, I have a proposal: Why don't WE become the much feared (by the left) October Suprise? Many of us on this site have lurked and read for years, others (like myself) multiply information by passing it on to those who are better-connected. However, I doubt that the majority of those who read this site have ever really mobilized in a sustained (i.e. month-long) way. And by mobilized I think that looking at and using our existing spheres of influence and relationships has greater potential than one-time events. October groundswell Surprise suggestions and comments welcomed.
